Anyone else catch Batman Begins yet? I caught it last night and thought it was the best Batman movie since the original. Christopher Nolan did an excellent job as did the entire cast. Christian Bale did an incredible job as Batman.
dude this is clearly better than star wars. bale really portrayed bruce as a tormented individual. The cast was incredible, familiar faces mixed with a couple of unknowns. it has a nice flavor to it. only complain is that bale sounds like alec baldwin when he acts as batman.
Saw Batman:Begins last nite and I just gotta say, WOW! Movie is great! Probaby the best comic book movie ever and just a damn good movie period. Excellent acting by all involved, excellent direction. If there were a few negatives it would be the action sequences weren't as good as they could have been, Nolan doesn't seem to comfortable film action but rest of the film more than makes up for this slight short coming. The only other negative is Katie Holmes. Now don't get me wrong, she's not bad, she and her character really don't have any reason for being there, the movie would have been just as good without her, maybe better. Anyway, a total must see. A-
I saw it, but have been too busy to review it. I thought it was the best too, but there is still room for improvement. I think because I read the script before hand, I was a little dissappointed at some things that didn't make it into the movie. Quick Example (SPOILER): Batman first appears when he goes after the corrupt Judge. The judge is in a limo with a hooker and Batman lands on the hood and punches out the windshield and takes out the driver. The judge lowers the partition and sees Batman crouching on the hood and Batman says a line straight from the Year One book about how the corruption ends now. Then he heads to the warehouse where it all happened the same as the movie except when he uses the batarangs to take out the lights, there is supposed to be a part where he takes out a row of them, one by one, and the thugs basically see darkness approaching them as each light goes out. Finally, Falcone ventures out of his office with a double barrell shotgun and Batman walks right up to him and from under his cape he reveals that he had taken the shells out and the gun was empty. (END SPOILER) Anyways, I think the best example of why Christian Bale is the best Batman is when he interrogates Flass.
Best movie I've ever seen in a theatre. Obviously, I don't go out to movies much, but this was an A+++
I don't like comic book movies that much. I saw this yesterday and was telling friends after I saw it that they had to see it too. It had great style, direction and a tight plot. The action sequences were fast and furious but they were a little dizzying, especially the first one IMO. Easily an A+
went to go see it minutes after getting off of work yesterday. bad phocking arse. cillian murphy was great as the scarecrow. dude looks more like plastic man though. doesn't even look human. i guess he looks the way that people describe dean b. curtis on this board. morgan freeman was great as he always is. there's only one way for spiderman to combat this... first with venom and then follow him up with carnage. actually "batman begins" showed that you don't need some bad ass villian to sell your movie.
****SPOILER ALERT**** cillian murphy was badass as scarecrow. although i felt there wasn't enough enough scarecrow in the movie and wanted more of a showdown with him and batman. i thought it was kind of weak how he went out with the taser gun from Rachel. still, it was a great movie and i'm probably gonna catch it again on IMAX next time.
bad ass movie indeed, and despite very few shortcomings here and there, it far exceeded my expectations as far as style and storytelling go. by far the best batman since the first.
Amazing...absolutely amazing. I left the theatre in shock... I was actually impressed by the action sequences, and in this day where everything seems fake and CGI, it was so refreshing to see actual fire, actual explosions, and real crashes. I agree with whoever said Katie was pretty useless, but I think she helps set up the sequels, which wil delve further into how the present-day Bruce Wayne deals with being Batman. In the end, it blows away any other big budget movie I've ever seen in a theatre since maybe Terminator 2.
Some gunshot deaths and threats, gassings, sword fights, and the Scarecrow gas makes for some pretty spooky scenes. All in all, much darker and serious that any Batman movies before it. I took my 4, 5, and 8 year old to see it. They loved it as well.
Cool, my kids have seen quite a bit. I doubt I would have let them see X-Men 2 had I watched it previously but most PG-13 movies I dont care if they watch. I know they will probably love it.
I will see it tonight, but damn it makes me happy to see such positive feedback...gives me hope this is Batman done (pretty much) the right way.
Am I the only one that just thought it was "OK"? I'm a pretty big batman fan through the years, and it just didn't do it for me. The plot could've been better. Especially the villian. Man - I wish they did some character development on him. I guess they are waiting for sequels - as his background is pretty awesome. Action scenes were dark, so that was cool. However, you couldn't see what was happening half the time. I guess that is how Batman really operates, but I would have liked to be seen more with the action scenes. I actually liked Mr. and Mrs. Smith a whole lot more.
The reason they didn't expand on the villians more was because this flick was about Bats/Bruce. Focusing on the Villians too much was a mistake that the previous flicks had done. Mr. and Mrs Smith?? I think your cred just dropped a few points if you ask me and yes I've seen it.
