I am planning a home remodeling project. The first part will be master bath. I want to look at fixtures- tubs and showers first hand. The Expo showroom closed on Westheimer and I will be looking at Home Depot, Lowes, and Kohler online, but thought there are probably more I do not know about. I will live in this house possibly another 10 years- do not want to break the bank-want to go middle of the road or better for value-but not economy junk either. I live near Beaumont and have looked at a local showroom- Coburn's and Tri-Supply, Home Depot, and Lowes, but these have limited displays. The Expo on Westheimer had numerous displays of bath fixtures set up with tile and accessories. This is helpful to get an idea what will work in our house and to understand scale and ergonomics firsthand. I will have scale drawing of the bath area with me and a measuring tape to determine what will fit. Any places you can suggest to look in Houston?
If you are willing to travel, check out Factory Builder Stores on Gessner @ Beltway 8. When I built my house, I got alot of stuff from them. Its always wise to check the internet once you find a model you like, especially on bath fixtures. I went with mostly Kohler in my home and got all my fixtures about 30% less than anywhere else in Houston.
Westheimer Plumbing and Ferguson's both have nice, high-end stuff... though honestly, if you do find something you like, you are just as good off just picking it out and ordering on-line at someplace like www.faucetdirect.com bathtubs...probably not, but I ordered a fair amount of stuff from there and their affiliates (lightingdirect.com) - faucets, towel barts, tp holders, vanity lights, etc. and found, even with shipping, they were generally cheaper. I had a problem with one tp holder that came scratched and sent it back and got a replacement no problem.
Good ideas- I agree- I will check the internet once we select fixtures we like. I expect it will be cheaper than in stores. I really like Kohler- very high quality and original designs We are in Houston 2 times a month or more-so we want to do our looking -selecting there Thank you Codell
I appreciate this. I want to see things in person so my wife can pick out a bathtub that is not too big for her. Our home was built in 1987 and the tub in the master is very large with lots of built in cabinets and crawlspace holding equipment- takes up too much of the room. We want to use the space more wisely and create a linen-towel closet with shower in the same area - if we can make the plumbing arrangement work- I think we can. It will make the room seem more comfortable and less crowded I hope. Thanks JZ750
