    none.

i mean, hockey and basketball are the two most international. but none compare to soccer. just watching a piece on basketball in china doesn't mean anything worldwide. hockey has a very popular following in sweden and russia among other countries, but it will never be the most popular in anything other than canada.

soccer is the king - and always will be - until teatherball makes a comeback.

Funny that among the choices listed, soccer and basketball are the least most popular pro sports in the US right now.

soccefr is and wil remain the most popular sport in the world. It is sad that the biggest sport channel in Europe broadcasts the Worldchampionship of Girls soccer under 16 years:confused:
    that is just sad.
i like soccer alot and i do not think any sport wil become more popular. Basketbal is just not popular enough in europe, but now that there are more europeans playing in the nba and also playing very good, it has become more popular here.

I think that tennis is also very popular, but that is not a team sport.

It's big in Asia also. Baseball is the most popular sport in Korea and Japan. They love it over there. You get just as much MLB broadcast over there as you do here.

Okay, so baseball might be popular in Korea and Japan. But I can gurantee that people in India, China, Africa, Europe, Australia, Middle East could care less about baseball. Most of them probably dont even know what baseball is.

And I dont blame them. Baseball is simply one of the most boringest sports EVER!

then how exactly would that explain the popularity of soccer? baseball is downright thrilling in comparison.

as of now, basketball is big and growing. i can't see it ever overtaking soccer but it's global reach is pretty damn impressive for a sport even it's native country didn't care all that much about 25 years ago and that the rest of the world couldn't even compete in 12 years ago. stern has to love it.

soccer and basketball seem to be the two cheapest sports to play. if you have a round ball and a field, you can play soccer and just make up the goals or out of bounds or whatever. and if there's a goal set up at a park anywhere and you have a round ball, you can play basketball and play it with as few as 2 people. i say that's a big reason they're so big. well, you can play football with just a ball like soccer but to play it like the pros you would need pads and helmets and crap like that that i'm sure a lot of places and schools around the world can't afford.

exactly why soccer is so popular, you really don't need any equipment to play it. As long as you can afford/have a ball you can play it.

It's quite ironic that you're hyping cricket, yet claim that baseball is boring. Cricket and baseball share many similarities. However, baseball games don't last 3 days or a week or however long those cricket games last. Cricket seems to only be popular in formerly British controlled areas (India, Australia, etc).
