    Here is my question...

Suppose I am holding the basketball, and then I fall down with my feet off the ground, that would be traveling right? Because I have my pivot foot off.

Now... what if I am going for the loose ball, and I dive with my chest to the ground and start sliding with the ball in my hand, would that be traveling?

What if in the same scenario, I cradle the ball with one hand, and start propelling myself forward with my other hand crawling and crawling... is that a traveling violation?

It's not a travel until the foot comes back down.

I always understood as long as you kept your feet off the ground and did not propel yourself any more than your natural momentum takes you, you'd be ok.

    See above.

Thanks, it's good to know that as long as I don't get back up and stay down I'll be ok. I'll getting on the ground a lot lately.

It's disappointing to know I can't propel myself forward with my hands on the ground though... That would have been nice.

I don't think you can roll over either.

    It is traveling.

That depends on control, if you have control of the ball and are sliding across the floor, it is traveling.

Yes because your hand becomes a pivot foot.....or at least one of them does.

What if you catch an interception then immediately punt that ball back to the offense?

I didn't know hands can be consider as pivot too. I was going to suggest what if I walked with my hands earlier, but you clear that up.

So if I go up for a rebound and fall down, I better make sure I fall flat without establishing myself first.

That would be a ground rule double unless the center fielder catches it. Then it is a penalty shot.
