Does anyone know of good places to research basketball shoes? I'm in the market for some new ones, and I'm thinking about getting some older styles off of Ebay or somewhere else. I was a big fan of the Nike Foamposite series, and I know they don't make those anymore, but I'm totally interested in trying out new styles. Any help would be great. Thanks.
The only suggestion I have is to avoid those stringless shoes. I got a pair of the TMac IIs (or whatever the latest ones are) as a gift. I'm mighty thankful, don't get me wrong. But man I'm constantly worrying about whether they're on right or too tight or not tight enough or will I roll my ankle in these crazy things or ... I never knew shoestrings gave me such a feeling of security before, but hey, they do.
If you have Tivo or DVR (and I don't) you could record all of the shows called "It's the Shoes" hosted by Bobbito Garcia on ESPN2. That can help maybe. I like the show anyway. Also, you might google EastBay athletics for online shopping.
This site has a good price guide http://kicksguide.com/main/shoe_make.asp?intMakeID=1 The best research is just monitoring ebay on a regular basis. You get an idea of what colors were released and price range. Foamposites were one of my favs too along with the Flightposite and Air Penny IV. I wouldnt recommend purchasing used shoes if you intend on playing in them...
If you really want some cheaper ones but good quality go to eastbay.com then click on the link on the left for the final score...they have all the closeout jordans and basically everything really cheap including clothing...definently worth a look. Sometimes you can get shoes that are like 150 bucks starting for about 60 - 70 bucks. Final Score
