I believe it. I participate in Tennis, Basketball, Tae Kwon Do, and weight training and by far basketball accounts for most of my injuries. Knees, elbows, neck, back, jammed fingers. Injuries caused by physical contact you name it were done mostly by basketball. Ever since I stopped playing basketball on a regular basis, (3-4 times a week) my injuries have healed quickly.
Yeah same here, Theres so many ways you can injure yourself playing ball. You may be able to shake off a jammed finger(if it isnt too serious) but once you roll your ankle you're pretty much done for the day. I did jam my left middle finger real bad a few months ago and it was swollen twice the normal size for two weeks.. Till this day I can clench my first ALL the way like my right fist.. I can't bend it all the way like I used to..
Oh yeah, lets not forget all the scratches(arms, chest, you name it) you get playing ball at the indoor court or just at the park. Battle scars I call 'em. Seems like alot of people dont trim their nails.
does it take into account that how many ppl play a specific sport to begin with? If not then the conclusion is biased. you can't say bball is the most dangeours sport just based on these numbers. say you have 100 ppl play bball, 5 got injured. and 10 play skateboard and 1 injured. which is more dangerous? and other things, like how serious an injury is? a bruise is nothing compared to a broken leg.
yeah that survey is pretty bogus if you ask me. they left way too many variables out to even begin to say which sport is the most dangerous. you have to at least have some kind of percentage in there.
512,213 injuries, 512,210 sprained ankles I wonder how many C5 compression fractures there are in basketball compared to football... If you ask me, mutiliation ball is where the REALLY serious injuries are...
