in the MLB if the game is called before 5th inning and its not ruled an official game do the stats of the players still count??
Don't they reschedule the game and start it at the point the original game finished (e.g. runners on 1st and 3rd).
I dont think so. Me and my friend are just in an argument about rather the stats for the players count or not
Define "is called"... what signal or rule does the umpire call? Is it because of weather, or because of something else?
Wasn't this the premise of the movie Mr. 3000? Bernie Mac got three hits in a game that was called, and they mistakenly counted those hits in addition to the ones from the make-up game.
If a game is called before it becomes a regulation game (4 1/2 innings if the home team is winning, 5 innings if the visiting team is winning) then it is ruled a "No Game." Essentially it never took place, therefore no statistics.
The prime real example (as opposed to Mr. 3000) came when Cal Ripken broke the record for most consecutive games played. They had to wait until the top of the 5th was played (the game was in Baltimore and the Orioles were winning), before they could officially honor him.
