He is the best player in the game. Pitchers know not to pitch to him but it matters not. He is zoned in and I for one am happy he holds the homerun record than Big Mac. Mac was a good guy, but his whole career all he did was homer. Barry, on the otherhand stole bases, played great defense hit his share of doubles and triples. He is a complete player something which Mcgwire was not, and thus am happy to see him have the record and maybe break it again.
And he was walked intentionally, twice. That is freaking ridiculous. He's not from this plant. I'm guessing Jupiter. Saturn maybe. If he keeps this up we might have to consider him as the greatest baseball player ever. And I'm serious. He's in another world right now. It's like Batting Practice for him out there.
Here's the question...does he break Aaron's record? Amazing, considering a couple years back (McGwire/Sosa I), Barry was really little more than an "also ran" among those who "might be able to achieve 755."
Considering how good Barry is now at such a late age, I think he will easily break Aaron's record. Who can say when age will catch up to him if he is able to hit 73 homers in a season NOW?
There's not enough steroids in the world to make a man hit like that. And steroids aren't going to increase your bat speed. That man is unreal. Hey Barry, the devil's calling, he's wants your soul soon. Crazy!
As a side question : can anybody knowingly prove or refute R2k's statement? I have no idea, but I know Ben Johnson's reaction time was insane when he destroyed the 100m world record in his infamous race vs. Carl Lewis. Of course, the steroids did it... I wonder if bat speed could be affected somehow by steroids in a similar manner?
I would think that bat speed is just a combination of your strength, speed, and technique. Steroids would improve two of these areas, so there is no reason to think that they cannot improve bat speed. Of course I haven't done any reasearch on it so I couldn't say for sure.
