For perjury and obstruction of justice. No link, but it just came through on the radio. Edit: Rotoworld got it http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB&hl=226342
Not surprised by this. Just that he's been allowed to play as long as he has. This speaks volumes for the integrity of our National Pastime at the present and about society in general.
B.S charges. Don't the courts and the law have more important things to worry about than steroid use in simple child's game?
That's not what the charges are for. They want him bad because they want to scare other athletes and celebrities and make them realize that they can get them.
The longer this stuff drags on, the more sympathetic a figure Barry Bonds will become, unless he opens his mouth and inserts his foot. I dislike the guy as much as any athlete I can think of and it broke my heart when he passed Hank Aaron. But this is starting to look more like a witch hunt than justice being served. I'll wait for the trial before making a final judgment.
I see what your saying... before this season I hated Bonds too, but for some reason I don't mind him to much now after this season of watching him more. Personally I want to see him bat in the AL. I think he could do some serious damage if he was DH'n for the Yankees. I really didn't care when he passed Aaron, cause I know A-Rod will eventually own all of those records.
Great way to make an example when they didnt even impeach Clinton for lying under oath . What a waste of money and time.
This should have happened years ago. But, no....they wait until he broke one of the most loved players in baseball historys record...
this all sounds oddly familiar. what??? i didn't think perjury and obstruction of justice were all that big of a deal???!!!!
baseball is gonna be just fine. this isn't exactly shocking news, and baseball's revenues are climbing like crazy.
Word. Didn't they just top the NFL in revenues? My beloved MLB is flying high and I don't think even steroids can bring them down. I can't wait to hear the new reason though why Bonds apologists think we shouldn't go after him. Now we have a positive test. What will they say to continue to deny that he is a cheater?
they didn't top the NFL in revenues...but they're approaching the NFL..and that was thought impossible just a few years back. if steroids were going to bring down baseball, it would have happened by now. the cat is well out of the bag...and has been for a very long time.
