Sources are saying he opted out so he could join Brand in Clipperland. http://www.ibabuzz.com/warriors/2008/07/01/well-well-well/
Hmm davis gordan thorton brand kaman thats not a bad starting five at all. their bench really needs to be rounded out though. they maybe able to get some assets if they are able to do a S&T for Maggette.
Whoa. No sign-and-trade, no nuthin. Poor Warriors. ... And they just let that trade exception expire. Guess they've got a lot of cash now at least... And Biedrins!
Whoa! The Warriors will be dogfood next season. They don't have a legit PG on their team without BD. Monta Ellis and Andres Biedrins will now break the bank beyond their wildest dreams. I don't understand lowballing BD and offering Gilbert the keys to the mansion. It'll be a long year for Nellie, but he's got 6 million reasons to stick around. The Warriors will compete for the worst record in the West. I guess after Brand re-signs, the Clippers will be in decent shape. But they are still the Clippers and Dunleavy is still their coach. Wouldn't surprise me if he and BD don't get along very well.
Yeah, I just wrote a thing about this, it's a shame. Davis is so much less valuable if they can't run, and Kaman can't run, so they're paying something like $25M a year for incompatible starters. Davis is going to jack up threes all day in Dunleavy's half court sets. Ughh, this whole thing is unfortunate. Real smart by Brand though; this way he can go back to the Clippers at any price with his Larry Bird rights, but they had to sign Davis first to get him under the cap.
Well, at least this clears up some space for Golden State to make a run. Also, Baron does not seem like a guy you really want to commit long-term cash to due to his injury problem. In my mind, that's the same kind of insanity that Washington is doing by offering Arenas +$100 million for six years. Monta Ellis is an incredibly good, young player and Biedrins is also very good. Don't forget that they still have Stephen Jackson and that he is still productive. I am shocked that Baron Davis would not go for the sign and trade option, though.
Baron needs a system where he can run... The clippers dont look like a great fit. Will have to see how the Brand/Davis duo works out. And Baron played all 82 games last season so hopefully his injury problems are behind him.
apparently the warriors made max offers to arenas so looks like they had to at least have some hunch that baron was on his way out. didn't baron and donnie nelson get into it at the very end of last season?
Wasn't Baron Davis recently involved in producing a documentary? LOL, maybe he's hooking up with Brand in LA to network.
i think the rest of their Fa's will seriously re-consider signing there. biedrins and ellis will probably resign for huge deals, but pietrus, azibuike, and barnes will probably walk away.
Clippers have a solid starting lineup now. And some decent backups to boot. If GSW does indeed get Arenas? Another nasty year in the unrelenting west.
