Cavs expected to use new amnesty rule on PG Baron Davis once the new CBA is official, source tells @YahooSports. Until then, BD in Cavs camp

Jefferson, Billups, and now BD? Well, using it on BD isn't surprising....

Doesn't have a choice if someone puts a claim in on him.

Teams that are under the cap put a bid in on a player, the highest bid gets that player.

Say someone bids $1 million for BDiddy....and no one else bids, they would then get BDiddy for $1 million a year, and the rest of his current contract would be paid by the Cavs but not count against their cap.

The Cavs would get complete cap relief and whatever the bidding team is paying would count towards their own cap.

So, any amnestied player is up for bid...and the highest bidder wins.

From what I've read the specifics are still up in the air with that. I'm curious to see who's going to be in this amnesty deal. It definitely gives players a new team to play with and more money, while it gives teams more options. I wonder how long the bidding period would be too.

Would Morey jump into these bids and try to put a package together?
