Baron Davis and his agent are demanding that the New Orleans Hornets trade the two-time All-Star guard to improve Davis' chances to win an NBA title. The Hornets have reached the playoffs seven of the last eight seasons while competing in the Eastern Conference. The team moves to the Western Conference this season after the expansion Charlotte Bobcats displaced them in the East. The Hornets will compete in the new Southwest Division, which also includes San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and Memphis and is regarded as the most competitive division in the NBA. "After talking with Baron and evaluating what the Hornets organization has been doing this offseason, I'm concerned with Baron's current status and his future with the team," Todd Ramasar, Davis' agent, told USA TODAY. "Baron was really disappointed with them losing the first round of the playoffs. I want to put him in the position where he can contend for a title or at least be in a position where he can reach the NBA Finals." http://www.usatoday.com/sports/bask...is-demand_x.htm]link[/URL] hopefully he stays
The guy is being realistic. That Hornets team has no chance of making the playoffs in the West. I see at least 10 teams better than them now.
too bad we don't need this guy. why didn't Brand demand for a trade? we can offer the Clippers ... never mind.
if mashburn is healthy, and baron stays, i dont see how the hornets cant possibly squeeze into the 8th seed. magloire, pj brown, and wesley are all good supplements.
I would say that Mashburn will probably never bee fully healthy again, and even if he stays, Davis is already gone from that team. PJ Brown and David Wesley are aging, and beyond Jamaal Magloire - who do they have in the front court to bang in the West?
Mo T + Pike and the TE for Mash Join the "trade me" club, Baron. Good luck with that. SAR wants a trade Vince Carter wants a trade Peja Stochokeavic wants a trade Jason Kidd wants a trade Who doesn't want a trade? Even if they don't , you've got names on the block : Shaun Marion Ron Artest Caron Butler Tyson Chandler Hard to say who's going to move for who.
How about... ---------------------------------------------- Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.7 minutes) SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 minutes) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 30.7 minutes) SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 11.5 minutes) SG Reece Gaines (1.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 9.6 minutes) Houston receives: PG Baron Davis (22.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 7.5 apg in 40.1 minutes) PF PJ Brown (10.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.9 apg in 34.4 minutes) SF George Lynch (4.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 21.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +2.1 ppg, +1.3 rpg, and +2.4 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED ---------------------------------------------- They get either young talent and/or contracts ending in a year or two in exchange for a couple of their long contracts. Of course this probably would never happen and I am dreamcasting.
This is ridiculous!!! Just play until your contract is up!!! I am sick of all these whinners crying about their situations.
Rivaldo, Here here !!! What ever happened to building a team? Everyone wants to go to one that is already a winner..... MAKE YOUR OWN TEAM A WINNER !!! DD
Hornets could use some guys who put up better field goal percentages. They were near the bottom in the NBA in that category. Mashburn is a cancer too. Of the non-playoff teams last year, I put the Suns and Jazz above the Hornets.
agree, surely in professional sports all teams can't win all the time if players are consistently going to ask for trades, then in the next cba they should outlaw contracts over 3 years... if the players want the security of 6 and 7 year guarenteed money contracts then stop demanding trades
Francis wasn't under contract. Big difference. Nothing requires you to sign a contract with the team that drafts you - but once you DO sign a contract, or an extension - you should abide by the terms of the contract. No ifs, ands, or buts. And if you happen to have an opt-out year in your contract, and you know you're going to leave - don't tell your team, instead string them along for the entire year before slashing them in the back.
This is how I see it. Like the NFL which has hold outs because players know they can be cut any time, NBA with the new CBA has pushed a lot of urgency into players to get as famous, as go know and as well paid as possilble. Since players in the NBA can't really hold out, they have to demand trades to be on winning teams/get playing time/ get exposure. There was an interesting article a while back that said the CBA which was designed to keep players in school with low rookie salaries completely back fired as players as come in early just to make get rid of the rookie status asap. These by products of the CBA will continue to happen until the CBA changes.
maybe a Carter for Davis trade? Raptors SF: Petersen PF: Marshall C: Bosh PG: Davis SG: Rose Hornets SF: Mashburn PF: Brown C: Magliore PG: Wesley SG: Carter
