This should be fun just for comedic value alone. That ****** has enough trouble putting together a complete sentence when he's in the studio, so it should be awesome hearing him stumble his way through an actual game...

Barkley to join Albert courtside in Kerr's absence

ATLANTA -- Charles Barkley can critique Kobe Bryant's game all he wants Thursday night from an unfamiliar spot: courtside.

Barkley will take a week off from his usual role on TNT's studio show to join Marv Albert in calling the Los Angeles Lakers' game at Sacramento.

Barkley will be a courtside analyst for the first time in nearly five years and only the fourth time since he began working with the network. Albert requested the former NBA star because partner Steve Kerr had back spasms and was unavailable.

Bryant was bothered by Barkley's criticism after the Lakers' Game 7 loss to Phoenix in last season's playoffs. Bryant scored only one point and took just three shots in the second half. Barkley said Bryant was selfish for not trying to take greater control of the offense.

Bryant told Barkley he was angry in text message responses. They patched things up before Bryant appeared as a studio guest during TNT's coverage later in the postseason.

It's counterintuitive to hate Barkley considering he was a former Rocket and even took a major paycut when he probably could have had a better shot somewhere else. The way he regards the Rockets and Yao on TV have definitely turned me the other way. The guy is a moron and should under no circumstances be allowed to be a governor. He's entertaining as a commentator even though he's wrong at in least half of the things he says.

He's much slower with his funny comments when he has to think on the fly and be serious... but then again, he tends to make more sense when he really gets into a game (and the only way you can do that is watching a game live).

Sure, Steve Kerr speaks better... but you can't tell me Barkley is more annoying than Kerr (and his CONSTANT references to Poppovich, Duncan, Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, etc., etc., etc.)

If I were Charles, I would take offense to being called a color commentator.

While Chuck isnt always clear or eloquent in his commentary he is however often HILARIOUS!

And I must say, I have to agree with alot of his comments especially those concerning why the Kings werent running any plays to get Kevin Martin more involve.

Chuck doesnt know all the rules and sounds lost. Starting watching in the fourth quarter. Put the volume down cuz he was making me irritated.

Merriam Webster's definition of r****d has to begin with:
    a. Charles Barkley; (can't get anything right, whatever he says count on the opposite happening)

it was pretty funny when he would just say "oh my god" as someone would begin to put up a horrible shot. certainly not the most technically proficient color commentator you're going to get, but still pretty funny.

Charles Barkley came to camp 35 lb over weight, took away part of Dream's inside game, alienated Clyde, and we traded Horry and Cassell in their prime to get him.

His 3 pt shot was money-yeah

    Yeah - he's my hero.

Don't worry about diabetes or circulation Charles- just keep on eating.

Kenny Smith's halftime critique of Charles' 1st half comments was funny.

Too bad the Queens wasted that great comeback to choke it away at the end of regulation and OT.

Hey, he did get us past the Sonics in the playoffs. Doesn't sound like much now, but back then it seemed nearly impossible.

The discussion about the Dick Bavetta - Charles Barkley footrace at halftime was pretty hilarious. It went something like this:

Kenny and Ernie: "I bet Dick Bavetta could beat you in a race."

Barkley: "There is no way a 67 year old man can beat me in a race. You can find any 67 year old man in the world that you want, and there's no way I will lose to a 67 year old man."

Kenny and Ernie: "Chuck if you see Dick Bavetta around, see what you can do about setting up a footrace between you two."

Barkley: (Incredulous) "First of all, even if I were to find a 67 year old person, they wouldn't be able to hear me."
