So fitting that he chose a game against Eric Dampier and Adonal Foyle to make that statement. Arguably, aside from Duncan and Shaq, any C in the whole league would struggle to get 19 points against Golden State.
If they'd feed him the damn ball, Yao could shoot over those goons all day from the top of the key. Those molasses clowns just camp in the low post, and no one else on that team can block his shot. They should do it just to put the chuckster down on his knees. Still, erf, that's prolly 18 shots. s/c would really have to want it. Would be sweet.
I hope the Rockets heard Chuck and put every effort to get Ming to score 19. It can be done if they want to do it and don't care to lose the game. I'd rather throw away a game and see how Barkley excercise his lips on Ming's behind. How about making a petition to Rudy to do just that. Barkley kissing Ming's butt will be a fitting ceremony in honor of Dream.
Barkley actually bet Kenny Smith that Yao would not score 19pts ANY game this season. He he lost the bet he would kiss KENNY'S ass...not Yao.
then when Ming was told about this bet, he cracked up and responds "I'll just score 18 tomorrow then"...
From the Chron: Barkley talk Something was lost in the translation, and that was before a Charles Barkley challenge was translated to Chinese. Barkley said on TNT on Thursday that he would kiss Kenny Smith's behind if Yao Ming scored 19 points tonight against Golden State. When passed along to Yao, it was put that Barkley promised to kiss Yao's behind, which could only be literally translated to Chinese. But Yao wanted no part of that deal. "Then," he said, "I'll just score 18." Yao said he was aware of Barkley's penchant for expressing any thought. Steve Francis, however, offered advice. "If you listen to what Charles Barkley said, you'd be flying," Francis said. "I don't want to listen to what that dude said. But there's a way Yao can score 19 points, and it'd be real easy. As much as we continue to work him in, it doesn't matter how many points he scores, and he doesn't care how many points he scores. I know he'll be happy if we win. "But I'd love to see that happen, whether it's Yao or anybody else."
Ya know, I found this statement by Francis quite interesting myself but held back from saying something right away. Yeah Steve, dont listen to a Olympic gold medalist, former MVP, a HOFer and one of the best at his position of all time. Youll go along way with that attitude.
I really like to see these kinds of statements by Francis...this is a bit to being a true team leader...
