...IF he can get in shape. Said so tonight on TNT. To be continued... Old School ------------------ I voted YES!
The Rockets could really use him. I hope he signs with us for the minimum. We need a rebounder. Surf ------------------
I'm excited. He sounded pretty serious, and he said wished the story hadn't come out, since it was a private matter. Said if he could lose 30 lbs and get his knee strong, he could play 30 min/game and grab 12 or 13 boards. He wants to be the oldest guy to lead the league in boards. Sounded a little like he might have even talked to MJ about coming to play for the Wiz. He said he'd play for the minimum.
Heard it. Sounds scary, but does he really think that he could actually get 12-13 boards a night like he said? Wasn't his last year avg. like 11?? ------------------ Note: It was my cowhead. I started the cowhead craze, and my cowhead inspired Mooch to step up and bring us a victory. Thank you for your time.
I dont think Sir Charles would want to play here. The Rockets are not a title contender right now and that is what Barkley wants...that or joining MJ in DC. I think Barkley said he would come back even if MJ did not do so. We don't need Charles Barkley. We have to go after Chris Webber, who is younger and better now. If we can't get Webber, Then we need to resign Taylor and continue the rebuilding process with the draft picks. Since Barkley may return, he should give us the backboard back that the Rockets gave him (you know...the one where he got his last rebound...and basket)........not really I'd love to see Charles back in the league, and if he does, I hope he wins a ring. I can just see it now guys The starting rotation for the next season's Washington Wizards Jordan Barkley Olajuwon and 2 scrubs to be named later. [This message has been edited by Rocket101 (edited March 14, 2001).]
Here's the quote: "I did tell a friend that I was thinking about coming to play and I'm still thinking about it. If I get myself in great shape and I feel good physically I'm going to play next year, but only if I can help a team. Right now I'm a long way from that decision. I got to lose obviously another 30 pounds and if my knee feels stronger I'm going to play." ------------------ I voted YES!
Don't forget Ralph Sampson...he told Charles he wanted to come back, too. The Twin Towers reborn!! Old School ------------------ I voted YES!
I don't know if any of y'all listened to Rome today (most people here don't like him), but Rick Reiley (sp?) came on today and talked about the MJ rumors. FWIW, he mentioned how Jordan denying anything means nothing -- he denied playing baseball, but did, he denied coming back, but did, he denied owning Washington, but did -- him denying something almost makes it an assurance. He reiterated that his source was as credible as he could get, and that people have been talking about it for weeks. Personally, I don't want to see Jordan or CB4 come back -- unless it's for Houston haha, imagine this: Dream, Barkley, Jordan, Shandon and Stevie -- talk about a dream come true! ------------------ What can change the nature of a man?
Speaking of Ralph, someone needs to buy that man a sandwich. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.

Thanks, Clutch. It's great that Barkley is gonna make it back to H-town for the Tux and Tennies deal on Friday. I can't wait to hear some great quotes from Chuck...I bet he's gonna roast Rudy hard. Why would Chuck want to play for the Wizards? I know he still has a desire to play because he never got a ring, but would he want to play for the Wizards without MJ on the team? The Wizards are in horrible shape even if MJ plays. At least with Houston, he can backup Webber or Taylor with a much better shot at a ring. Yeah, and don't forget Clyde. If we can get Clyde, Jordan, Hakeem, and Sampson... all those "what if" threads about Clyde, Olajuwon, and Jordan playing together in Houston if we had traded Sampson will be put to rest! We'd have all three PLUS Sampson!! From CNNSI.COM ATLANTA (AP) -- Charles Barkley says he is considering making a comeback next season, perhaps with the Washington Wizards. "I am still thinking about it," Barkley said during halftime of TNT's telecast of the Minnesota-San Antonio game. "If I get myself in great shape and I feel good physically, I am going to play next year -- but only if I can help a team. "Right now I am a long way from that decision. Obviously I have to lose another 30 pounds, and if my knee feels stronger I am going to play." Barkley, an 11-time All-Star, retired last year after playing 16 seasons. He currently works as an analyst for Turner Sports. His statement on a possible comeback came one day after Sports Illustrated reported that Michael Jordan was strongly considering a comeback -- a report quickly denied by Jordan and his agent. Jordan and Barkley are close friends. "I can't control what Michael does. He's a grown man. Michael is Michael and Charles is Charles, but I speak only for Charles. It might be fun to play for Michael. He'd just have to get me under the cap. "It s a long way away, and when I'm ready to make a decision I'll tell everybody," Barkley said. "I'm just using it as a motivational tool right now. The only way I can get up and work out twice a day for four or five hours is to use that [as motivation]. I'm not going to do it simply to lose weight." ------------------ I voted YES!
Damn who's next? DR. J? ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Yes!!!!!!This is what I've been waiting to hear for a long long time. But these 2 things are for sure regardless of where Barkley plays I'll be his #1 fan, and second, I'm still a Houston Rockets fan for life. Playoffs here we come ------------------ President of the Sir Charles Barkley Fan Club
Man that would be great! I would love for him to come back and get his ring, just so we could rub it in Karl Malone and the Jazz fans faces. Whether it is with us or not, and ex-Rocket like Charles getting ring, as long as it's not at our expense, sounds good to me! Like I've said before, I think he is a perfect fit off the bench for the San Antonio Spurs. I think he would give them a veteran and some depth. I can see Isiah and Reggie Miller trying to convince him to come to Indiana, or Payton in Seattle if he's still there. Should be interesting. Maybe there is some merit to those MJ rumors afterall! ------------------ The Heart of a Champion still beats. . .
Charles isn't coming back. If you were him, you would want the attention as well. MJ and CB34 need to stay retired. They both ended their careers in storybook fashion (MJ with "The Shot" and Charles with "The Rebound.") It's time for the league to move on.
