Shows the same thing every time. Yells at employee/employer. Shows employer his employees not doing job. Shows employer employee doing something wrong. Shows employer employee giving free stuff. Anyway it is interesting to see what problems could go wrong in a business. Very interesting.
My favorite part of the show is seeing which bars are in it because they want to improve their processes and/or solve internal problems and which ones are just looking for a free makeover for the bar. Usually, you can tell the difference. And then when they do the updates at the end, you can definitely see which are which. Chances are, if they went back to their old name or their old ways, they just wanted some free stuff and free publicity.
I went to a bar he rescued in Tucker, GA. I was not impressed. I was all excited to try their chicken & waffle slider, but it was awful. They were also one of the few episodes where they didn't create a specialty drink that I was interested in.
They did another bar in Houston called Houston Sports Hub (End Zone). I like the show, regardless of it being fake. Free stuff is cool, so I get it. http://www.barrescueupdates.com/2014/05/bar-rescue-houston-sports-hub-end-zone.html
I end up watching this show when nothing much is on. Pretty addictive even though a lot of it is staged. I just like how some owners will just take a free renovation and then continue to be a ****ty owner. I remember going to that bar years back when my roommate was dating one of the girls up there. Justin was a pretty cool dude but the place started getting a shady crowd and fights would often occur so we quit going.
Have you guys watched the Gordon Ramsay stuff? This show looks like a bad ripoff of his Kitchen Nightmares. http://www.netflix.com/WiRoleDisplay?personid=30077055
Taffer actually consulted Ramsey and Robert Irvine before making his show. Apparently he and Irvine are actually good friends.
I like the show, staged events and all. Working enough around bar/club venues, there are some number of dickheaded owners at the top who can drag a place down. Generally its not as overt as some of the ****holes shown in the show. Its things like ineffective people skills, egos getting in the way, intervening with vendors/promotions/support services not letting them do their thing right cuz they think they know more than they do, etc. Stuff that customers dont see or care about but are aggravating behind the scenes. I guess its gratifying seeing Jon Taffer put those types in their place
