I get so sick and tired of all the fair weather fans. You either love the Rockets through thick and thin or you don't. I loved the Rockets through the times they had before the championships. That is why I got such gratification when it finally happened. Most people dog the Rocks for ANYTHING THEY CAN CONCEIVE OF. It is terrible. They are doing one hell of a job this year(considering everything) I have lurked on this site for years, and have never been forced to endure the player abuse that i have seen this year. NO....They R not gonna win the championship....but give them your love. We are fans people. Be fans!

I been a fan through the glory days of the championships and the hard times. I even almost watched every game last year when we losing everyone we played. I wish the bashing would stop too, but then again some of the things do need to be talked about like the lack of ball movement, etc.

Im with you on this. After every win, there are numerous threads that are positive. A loss then results in complete bashing. Its dumb.

I think a die hard fan sticks with the team through thick (ring years) and thin (lottery years).

A fan is........shows up in ring years and playoff years. The key is this person does not switch team support in the lottery years.

A bandwagon fan is who joins a team for a specific purpose (following a player or a ring) and then gets oof the movement the player starts misfiring or the ring is lost. In fact Ming brought a lot of bandwagon fans......but in a year or two many will become a Rockets fan (see definition up) . A small percentage of them will the get converted to being a die-hard fan!!!!

The best way to think about fans is like dating/marraige....If you have a one-nite stand then you are a bandwagon fan (person)......if that one-nite stand leads to regularly dating (that becomes Fan)...ANd if you get married..you are History Meaning a die-hard fan.

    GO Rockets.

    You're absolutely right.

The only fair-weathered bandwagon-jumping fans on this board are the ones who thought the Rockets were going to be great when they drafted Yao and are now bailing because it's not the case.

The fact that anyone posts on this board during these lean years says they are not fair-weathered. You want to know who are the fair-weathered fans? It's the ones who don't go to games that are 30 miles away while some of us who are too far away are so starved to see a mediocre team play we wander town searching for sports bars willing to put the game on.

I think people that are on the board of a 20-something win team must be true fans, but I also agree with the since Ming drafting that NewYorker refered to. I have been a been a fan 30-something years. My favorite teams were well before the Dream. Moses Malone- its sad he didn`t get the ring with the Rocks- came close though.

OK, I admit I only registered on this board after May 20, but it had nothing to do with Ming (will a little), I don't think think its fair to group ppl who registered after that time fair weather becuz i've been a fan and has been visiting this board for a long time. It's just the CC recently now forces u to reg to even look at the board.

We do have a lot of fellas who Whine a lot on this board and a few of them keep posting the same dumb remarks after each loss. But I dont think that necessisarilly makes them lesser fans.

The thing that seems to be lacking is patience, this is a very young team, the guys the have beat up on in the last few games, KT and Cat, have only been starters one year.

Those of us who are long time fans have suffered, some years just hoping for respectability,,,even twenty years with-out a ring wasnt to long..If you are a real fan you tough it out.

Only one team gets the ring, 27 others dont. This Rocket team is heading up the ladder. I am one Rocket fan who hopes they make it....soon/ !!

I'm a true fan. By saying that, I feel that I'm part of the team. When they lose it seems that I also was on the floor and lost with them. The different is they get paid millions for win or lose, and I just get joy :D or sadness :( .

Furthermore don't beleive everyone that came to this website around a certain time are only band wagon fans. Hell I just found out about it in July. I be around Rocket die hard fanactics all the time and they never heard of it neither.

After a few seen the way some people bash the Rockets, on the website; they thought it would be in everyone best interrest if they stayed away. Because they felt that the bashers were just cowards and just some lurkers, as some of the people on this website would call them.

I'm a true fan. I always make time to come home from work and watch the rockets, hoping that they will win a given game, but knowing that i will still support the team no matter what the case. I honestly think that the Rockets have some of the most loyal fans around, me being one of them.
About the bandwagoners....its a little discouraging. Love the Rockets with or without Ming, or any current player for that matter. It's hard to imagine, but I'm a big supporter of TEAM loyalty and then PLAYER loyalty. I know this board received a lot of new members since the drafting of Ming, and they are most likely bandwagoners(not all). I don't have a problem with that because Ming will be in Houston for a while, meaning this so-called bandwagoners will eventually become true fans.

    * I can remember being in the Clutch Chat, before i had league pass, asking DoD the score every 30 seconds lol.:D ;)
