It's the hardest to make. It takes forever. And I burned my hand checking on it, and dropped it on the heating coil and nasty stuff in my oven. Damn you potato, yield to me your succulent flesh in an easier way.
The easiest way to make them (not the best) is to microwave them until they're almost done and then wrap them in foil with some butter or margerine, along with some salt if you like it, and then pop them in a hot oven (about 425 or so) for 15/20 minutes more or less. Mmmm... good.
Microwave it. Takes 13-15 minutes. Make sure to poke several holes in it so you don't get exploded potato all over your microwave. The butter/salt/wrapping in foil thing tastes better, but prepare to start it an hour ahead of time... and who comes home hungry and then wants to wait an hour before they can eat? Or, for that matter, even 15 minutes - and then have to get the toppings for it? By that point, I would be saying, "forget it... Wendy's has baked potatoes..."
genius right here ^^^. to guys, anything that can't be cooked in a george foreman is a double black diamond to make.
Next time if you put in salt for the oven heating, try to pay attention whether you taste/smell chlorine while eating it.
LOL....I needed to read this thread to keep me going.... I hate myself for being such a procrastinator....I have so much work due tomorow....ugh....
This reminds me of something I saw on Natonal Geographic one time: did you know that when Grizzlies go to feed on the salmon, they only eat the skin and discard the "meat"? They want/need to fill up on the low-volume, high-fat content of the skin for their winter slumber...
A good baked potato takes time. Wash it and then rub the skin generously with olive oil. Sprinkle your favorite spice all over it after that (Greek seasoning, Tony Chachere's, whatever). Then bake on high heat...like 400 degrees...for an hour and a half, turning the potato over halfway. The skin comes out crispy and you can eat the whole damn thing.
Kroger has these potatoes wrapped individually in plastic. Pop one in the microwave for 7 mins and its done and ready to go.
The Foreman grill is no longer the ultimate in single-and-or-worthless-in-the-kitchen guy kitchenware. The Flavorwave oven now rules. It blows the doors off the GF!
