You get the feeling that we are seeing the end of an era?

Yes, the 15-day DL is retroactive to the last appearance that the player made in a game.

    Yes.

Jeff Bagwell's spaghetti shoulder is al dente. This should be his last year in the major leagues.

This minor league guy has 35 home runs in five+ minor league seasons? That'll drive in some runs...

He's not a big home run hitter, but he gets a lot of doubles and can drive in runs. He's great at getting on base, is hitting .391 at Round Rock this season, plus he gives us another left handed stick. I doubt he'll be used for anything more than pinch hitting though.

7 home runs a year. Methinks that this is not a harbinger of the end of the Palmeiro Era.

Yes. regrettably, but hopefully insurance will cover it and he -- and 'stros - will be covered.

I hope he retires and some of his $18mil can be used on same real offense. He needs to nut up, face facts and be responsible to his team. He needs to step up to the mic and announce his retirement.

Guys, I don't think this guy will play 1B - Berkman will.

The new guy will prolly just do some fill-in IF utility work.

So Mike Lamb is now the answer at 1st base, when he couldn't even win the 3rd base job last year?

It's so sad watching Bagwell go down like this. Especially since we don't have any big hitters in the minors to bring up. Shouldn't we have been preparing for this eventuality when it became clear his shoulder condition wasn't going to go away?

Lamb played first last night with Berkman in left, and is playing first again tonight.

I think he was too much of a defensive liability to play left field.
