Why don't the Astros put Bagwell back at 3rd base and have Daryll Ward play first?

Because they had the most productive 3rd base position in the NL last year.

Because Bagwell could barely throw from 1st to 2nd on double plays last season on account of his shoulder...there is no way he could stand up to throwing across the diamond every game.

not to mention that Bagwell is probably the best defensive first baseman in the game today

Not to mention that he was moved to 1B in AAA because he was a below average 3B...and that was as a youngster. Imagine what he'd be like after suffering wear and tear of 11 major league seasons.

    C - Biggio
    1B - Berkman
    2B - Bagwell
    3B - Ward
    SS - Kent
    LF - Tony Eusebio
    RF - Bagwell
    CF - Ausmus

Hidalgo can be our closer, he's got a pretty good arm.

    LF - Tony Eusebio

This would be just like last season!!

    2B - Bagwell
    RF - Bagwell

I like Bagwell, but he isn't quite this fast. That's a lot of ground to cover there. Where would he position himself?

Only problem with that is we would have to trade for Tony Eusebio. He is on the Colorado Rockies roster now.

I'd position Bags around halfway between the basepath & the RF wall. I have faith he can cover the turf, you've seen the way he charges bunts. Or maybe he should just intune whether it'll be a fly/ground ball & break before the pitch. His instincts are pretty good, I have faith he's up to the task.

I thought about letting Bags play first as well, but figured we needed to get Berkman's bat in the lineup somewhere.

Bob - I forgot to mention that I traded Wagner to Colorado (I didn't think he was whining enough last year, so maybe a change of scenery's in order) for Eusebio & Juan Pierre, who's OB% will actually increase while he serves as a batboy.

I think we should sign Cecil Fielder and put him at Cf so D-Dub can have his idol/role model on the club ;).

Then we can sign Mitch Meluskey as the brawl coordinator.

They should let Biggio catch a few games for old time sake.

Did you notice Bagwell's blistering throws last year? Me neither. There was no possibility of him moving back to 3rd base before the rotator cuff injury...now you may as well ask for Sandy Koufax to pitch again.

Woah! Hold on! No future roster decisions should be made until we sign Mitch Williams to be our new pitching coach. :)

Also, the Astros MUST make some trades in order to keep up with the Cardinals. We shouldn't rest until our lineup looks like this:

    C: Tony Eusebio
    1B: Travis Lee
    2B: Lugo
    SS: Bill Spiers
    3B: John Cangelosi/Blum
    LF: Ward
    CF: Hidalgo
    RF: Derek Bell

Start printing those 2003 World Series Champions shirts, baby!!!

    :D :D :D

Who did he fight with? Was it Spiers or Berry? Who won?

He punched Matt Mieske for trying to jump ahead of him in the batting cage line.
