I'm sure I misspelled his name, but Lance on 610 his morning said that Malick is really progressing, is a great rebounder, and the Rockets consider him their PF of the future. This is good to hear. Does anyone have any updated info or stats to share? From what I remember, he's really athletic but needs to add muscle (any updated photos of Malick?)
Ha HA !! Jeff? Do not diss the Bad man !! DD PS. I thought he was out for the year, is he back playing again?
Hasn't he been injured for several months, if not the remainder of the season? If so, then Lance is talking out of his ass and goes to show how irrelevant sports journalists are becoming in the internet age.
That's great to hear about Badiane! First the good Chronicle write up on how Vassilis Spanoulis is progressing in Europe and then some good comments on Malick. I have no idea if either of them will be the future 1'S and 4's for this team, but perhaps at least they will add solid bench depth. Both of them sound like young "energy" guys which is something this team seriously could use. If both of them were able to make the team next year, you add them to perhaps our 1st rounder and someone we get with the MLE and you could bring in 4 YOUNG, athletic guys to add to the core of McGrady and Yao. I like the sound of that!
Good amount of rebounds for the amount of minutes he was getting. He is gettin more boards then our starters are and they play 30 plus minutes.
It's always good to hear about our draft picks, especially since we haven't seen one in 3 years. As for Badaine being our future PF, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. This is a guy who barely plays in the Euroleague and people are talking about him playing being our future PF? I sure hope we can land a key FA this summer (ex: Swift or Chandler). Of course, I hope I am completely wrong about Badaine and he turns out to be our "Badman."
How old is that other dude of ours in Europe? Man, I hope they can contribute to our team in the near future.
Click this link to read articles on him translated from German. It's a raw translation, but you understand what they're saying. Seems like a real good kid, his main goal seems to be to get to play in the NBA.
I think you are talking about Spanoullis (sp?). Not sure how old he is, but I think he is still pretty young. I am excited about this guy though. Those euro guards seem like they really know the game well. Hopefully, he can come in and handle the ball and hit the open jumper.
As I recall when I watched the workout tapes when we drafted him, he was strong as a horse. He is 6-11 and 230-250. Freakish long arms and runs like a deer. Good blocker, rebounder but raw offense. Reminded me a bunch of Kevin Garnet physically, but not talent wise. All-in-all just the tpye PF we all to see next to Yao, when the time comes.
The scouts were definately all over this guy when it came to his freak abilities on the basketball court. He has the tools to be a top 5 shot blocker/rebounder. The offensive skills will come on their own... I'm really excited about this guy. Plays really tough.
