It's way early, but I'm thinking this is a bad sign for Gephardt. 52-38 in the loser's home state is less than encouraging. Probably good news for Dems who support some other candidate. http://www.missourinet.com/gestalt/...-401F-911DB23773F83994&dbtranslator=local.cfm Bush Leads Gephardt In Missouri In New Poll by Steve Walsh Missouri Republicans are taking delight in a statewide poll by Research 2000 of Rockville, Maryland. The survey, conducted for KOMU-TV in Columbia, shows President Bush would emerge the winner in the state in a head-to-head presidential match-up with native son Richard Gephardt of St. Louis. According to the poll, Bush has the support of 52-percent of those surveyed, compared to 38-percent for the Congressman. What particularly satisfies Republicans is the demographic breakdown. Bush leads 49-percent to 40-percent against Gephardt among women. Bush also leads Gephardt in St. Louis - 48-percent to 41-percent.
Gephardt didn't stand a chance to begin with. The nominee will either be Kerry or Edwards, unless someone who isn't on the radar screen emerges late, ala Clinton in 1992.
Yeah, he's anything but. He gives a great interview, IMO. BTW, Gore lost his home state in 2000, but he still won the election. That one's for you MadMax.
is that Clark?? sorry..but that guy looked like an absolute idiot during CNN coverage of the war. week 2 he was like, "oh, things are going really poorly...quagmire...long extended war...slowed down..blah...blah...blah...there really doesn't seem to be much of a plan." then a week later it all came crashing down...and he looked like a sad puppy. it was like watching Rather read back election returns.
Retired Gen. Wesley Clark Moves Closer to Candidacy By Dan Balz Monday, June 16, 2003; Page A04 Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who has been flirting with a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination for months, took another step toward a candidacy yesterday. Asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" about a run, Clark said, "I'm going to have to consider it." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A62611-2003Jun15.html
I'm not surprised. And he was on Pacifica saying the problem was US "militarism." I thought he was some old senile dude from the '70s. I was surprised it was this guy so many people love.
Disclaimer I am by no means claiming that Clark would be my choice. However, judging by the choices so far, he (IMO) is the closest to having a chance to beat Bush. Only time will tell...
Please retitle thread to Bad Sign for Gephardt! I thought the end of the world was near. Gephardt had no chance anyways..
