It is just extra hard for them, especially females and children, at the moment. They need their own place to relieve themselves and clean themselves without the risks of getting infected or spreading. Tents with rigged fans to circulate air along with portable toiletries and clean water source would help. There are people with the money to make this happen.

I’m not against helping the homeless
The San Francisco way of helping has not helped
They say they want to build more shelters
But they’d rather use that real estate for corporations or expensive apartments
Instead of trying to get them off drugs the city gives them free needles. That has only attracted more homeless

It is one of the most appealing cities in the world for people to live in...... so Democrat or Republican, the government is doing something right.

    There’s no middle class.
It’s overrun now with tech bros.

    nature wise it’s amazing.

Still like Los Angeles better. But that’s my personal choice

None of those things are goals of the program as described. The program is to prevent the homeless population from becoming a massive Covid 19 swamp.

    damn, ur ignorant

my uncle is a short order cook, his wife is a seamstress. their 2 paychecks help them to buy a house in SF and raised 3 kid, 2 of them work in the silicon valley

there are many families like my uncle who live in SF
SF natives are overly concerned w being cosmopolitan in the traditional sense, a la NYC, Paris, London

Angelenos don't give a rip about tradition, they just want to be cool. thus, the valley girls / beach boys, the car culture

The goal isn't to help the homeless, it's to isolate homeless people who have tested positive for Covid or waiting for test results so they don't spread the virus

That's the same article just in the NY Post instead of City Journal - same author.

I just don't think it's true that they are being put up in luxury hotels given from what I seen it's more like Motel 6's.

I wont say I have a better idea since the city never had enough homeless shelters but

from that article in the post:

Even with complementary lodging and amenities, city workers report at least a 20 percent attrition rate. Of the guests who remain, roughly a third stay outside all day, not taking the shelter-in-place rules seriously.

didn’t seem as successful as they thought it would be

Maybe not in SF, but those sound like anecdotal vs. any kind of statistical study. The direction to put people in hotel rooms for dealing with COVID came from the CDC and many cities have done this. I can't speak to SF's execution but it seems other cities have had success with this strategy.

    This topic is interesting because
The need to shield people from covid doesn’t mean you should allow them to continue destructive behavior
    Such as alcohol and drugs
