That blown call by the ref on that Cato block on carter was big, Cato blocked the shot and the stupid ref called it a goal tend. Carter might have missed 1 of 2 foul shots or at worse made both. that 1 point was the difference in the game as you can see. Mobley of course is brain dead at times and a genious at others but come on cant he take better shots than the ones he took at the end of the game yesterday.
That was a terrible call of goaltending on Cato. Vince is only a 2 year man and obviously already "gets" calls. Frankly, I don't think anyone should "get" anything. Call it the same for everybody. On topic, yes Cuttino missed a lot but I don't blame him for the game. It takes guts to at least take the shot and he has that. Closest thing we have to Mario Elie. But Rudy is calling the plays. Cuttino is not hogging it or doing it on his own entirely. I thought Bryce lost the game. I know other things earlier also contributed but it was crunchtime. Whoever blows the play at crunchtime, lol, I generally think blew the game. All he had to do was make a simple free throw - one of his strong points. I thought Toronto had made a big mistake fouling him and stopping the clock but I guess their coach knows the Rockets clank a lot of free throws and banked on it. Genius, if that was the case. I'm sure he will say that is exactly what he was doing. Lol. The 3 pointer at the buzzer is meaningless unless he had made the free throw too. At least overtime if he makes the free throw. A missed free throw? I am one to usually still clap and go "Oh, nice try anyway" but I was so mad at Drew right after the game. Fundamental drills would help this team a lot. At least the turnovers are down, which is a big improvement.
Yeah that was such a horrible call. I don't understand why they don't bring back instant replay like they have in the NFL. Basketball is a much harder sport to referee than football is too(in my opinion). We still could have won the game even with that crappy call, but it would have been so much easier if the refs actually knew what the hell they were doing.
OK, Mobley not passing the ball in the fourth quarter is OK because he's got guts? Drew misses a free throw so he cost us the game? That's some weird logic.
Give the refs a little break. That's a tough call that's easy to make on a replay. I couldn't tell until I saw the replay. It's almost impossible for the ref who makes the foul call to call the goal tend or block because he was looking at the contact, then the jersey #, etc. It's just a quick play that's tough to judge at times. We lost that game for many reasons, not one play down the stretch.
mantronix you are so right that was bad call and all we need to do is pull mobley out in the 4th it's like he tryes to do it all some one tell him there are 4 outher players on the cort
Tb-cain, Dont stick up for those idiot refs because I am sick of the Rockets on the short end of the stick with bad calls. For once I wanna hear the Rockets got the calls because every time theres bad calls it is always the Rockets getting hurt and this makes 4 games in which the Rockets got bad calls. The other were the Lakers, Suns and Bucks games.
You guys are looking at bad calls entirely the wrong way. Bad calls make possible the best of all worlds: We can play hard, play smart, improve our team in every respect, and do everything it takes to win every game -- and still lose, thanks to the refs. At the end of the year, we'll have a record far worse than our ability justifies. And we'll get a nice lottery pick and come back next year to kick butt and take names. THEN we should root for the bad calls to stop.
mantronix, how many times do you see a Rocket grab, push, bump set an illegal pick, hack, go over the back, etc. that the refs don't call? And you think to yourself "Man, I'm glad the refs didn't see that!" Stop kidding yourself. Everytime I think the refs are prejudicial, I look at the boxscore for the proof. Inevitably, the stats just don't support my feelings. It's called being a fan. You don't notice when the calls go your way (or you say "finally!"), just when they don't. Ask yourself why Oakley, Willis, etc. were in constant foul trouble in that game. It goes both ways. Really.
