You shouldn't DCProwler Jermaine Taylor. He will really help us this year, In a Shannon Brown sort of way, imo...
Brooks and Lowry will play together at times. Battier and Ariza will likely see some time together as well. And I'm sure Budinger will see some time at SG. Martin's going to play ~35 minutes per game, presumably all at SG. A combination of Brooks, Battier/Ariza and Bud can handle 13 minutes a game at the 2. If Martin gets hurt, Taylor is adequate insurance as a backup. This is a non-issue in my mind. Adelman generally doesn't use particularly deep rotations anyway, there's no need to add another player.
I'm not saying we should add another player, I'm just wondering what other fans openions are. Because I really wasn't sure what the main plan was! Ur post seems to be the most likely situation tho!
In all likelyhood, kevin martin's average of 38mpg will probally negate any need to aquire a secondary 2. As the oher posters have mentioned, the enormous surplus of wings along with AB will be more than sufficent to fill the void.
I agree. And for all of you who think that JT will really step up his game this year stop dreaming. Seriously, I watched this year's SL and although Adelman had given him specific instructions to work on some areas on the offense he still hogged the ball, I mean your coach is giving you a chance here and you still don't listen or are incapable of carrying out the instructions.
I'm sorry but I can't give you a link, but you can hear about those "instructions" if you watch the Rockets games in the SL. The commentators there talk about what Adelman had told JT to work on in the SL.
This is what training camp and preseason is for. To work out the rotations and see how all the pieces fit together. I wouldn't judge JT strictly based on his SL performance. He is a natural scorer, it's what he has always done. We will need someone to attack the rim.
when martin was out for a couple of games due to his shoulder, Rick Adelman didn't hesitate to start Taylor and he did a good job filling in. he is our backup SG. besides, a backup SG isn't a problem for us when we have a couple of other guys that can slide to the 2 if needed.
actually it would probably be JT for both. taylor is strong. guy walks around with like 5% body fat and had the 2nd most bench reps for a SG in the 09 draft class(only behind Harden by one rep). Taylor can guard any 2 in the NBA if he puts the work in. he has the tools to be as good of a defender as Tony Allen but with a lot more offense.
From 82games.com last year, SG minutes distribution Battier 41% Martin 21% Lowry 18% Ariza 10% Despite how everyone pigeonhole Battier/Ariza as SF and Lowry as PG, NBA lineups tends to be much more flexible in reality. Even without JT, the Rockets are fine at SG depth.
