Now that we have our star center in place and have heard reports that Asik will not be willing to serve as Howard's backup, we need to look thru other avenues in which to find our next (or should I say first) serviceable backup C.

Greg Smith is great in small sample sizes but his weaknesses show once given ample playing time, as we've seen throughout last season and the playoffs. He would be great to serve as our 3rd big man off the bench and supply the offense with extra energy and toughness.

Motijuenas is far from becoming a Center that can successfully guard big men in the paint as well as on the perimeter. Hopefully he takes large steps forward during this off season to improve those weaknesses and brings us a fantastic stretch 4 off the bench that can give a little bit of everything.

My proposal, would be to (if possible) sign and trade for a player like Timofey Mozgof. I know the guy is a relative unknown so far but he brings what we need in a backup center. He has plenty of size standing at 7'1" as well as post defense and offensive rebounding prowess. We wouldn't need much scoring since Dwight would take a majority off the minutes and touches so he'd be a perfect fit to serve as the picker when we are running our PnR offense the way Asik did. I'm not to sure this is possible but we could possibly reach out to Corey Brewer gauge his interest in joining our squad and have him force a S&T to us which could include Mozgof. That would potentially kill two birds with one stone, but again I'm not quite sure how much of a possibility that is.

I know we're going to be looking for more "cost effecient" alternatives at center and with us having tighter restraints on signing further free agents I thought this could be a good cheap route to go.

Anyone else think of some good backup Center options?

It's impossible, Denver had traded out the Greek Center, Mozgof is the only backup Center .
Mozgof's salary will be 16m~20M/4 years
