I haven't had to return to grade school in eight years, and yet I still cringe at those "back to school" commercials. And this is coming from an avowed lover of cold weather and long winters. It's just something about that loss of adolescent independence, and not the end of summer. Just try saying "interim report," or "parent-teacher conferences" or "report card" out loud without shuddering a bit.
Back to school means it's almost FOOTBALL SEASON!!! High school, college, pro, Pop Warner, I don't care. Just bring it.
sorry man... y'all start early. I'm still on vacation this week. We have in-service next week... not looking forward to it... and school starts the week after that. I'm not sure if I'm ready for all the craziness.
No crap. I'll be happy though when I start summer vacation a week before everyone else. Is it too early to start the countdown?
My son graduated HS a few months ago and will spend at least the first 2 years of college at home. Some of us don't get summer vacations from our job, so you'll get no sympathy from me.
I'm back at work now too, I've had the last month off where I spent it in Houston visiting my parents who are visiting from Saudi.
For the first time in my 18 years of living, I don't have to worry about attending school this month. On the other hand, I do have to start my fall semester of college at the end of the month, but I'm fine with college life. I'm getting a taste of it right now (summer program with classes), and I like it a lot better than high school. So I no longer dread the Ides of August...or whatever you call them. For those that have to go back to school (either to teach or to learn), you have my sympathy.
ha just wait til you're taking 12+ hours when fall hits. The PCL will be your best friend come midterm time.
what's SSDD? As much as I don't want school to start, I'm not going to count down to summer this time. Because I have decided that this is going to be the last year I teach where I'm currently employed. I may teach elsewhere, or may do something else entirely. (nothing like being honest with yourself and realizing that you're not, nor ever really have been, that interested in the subject you're teaching) I need some time to figure things out. But the summer could last a little longer...
i can't wait to go back to school. these 40 hour work weeks are brutal compared to the good ol' college life. i give my two weeks notice on thursday. oh...and sophomore year was pretty good too (almost better than freshmen cuz you know everybody and still don't have too much work). i'm hoping junior year isn't too bad.
good lord im so sick of summer. ive been in houston for the last 3 months basically so the PCL will be a welcome change of pace. austin baby, come back to me! you know all those other cities mean nothing to me! unless were talkin pro sports. AAA roundrock and the ice bats dont quite do it for me. who's got their football season tix? its our year this year... again.
Hell yeah....I got done with Spring semester thinking...I'm gona work a little and hang out alot w/ buddies and do all sorts of crazy things. Well...lets just say when you decide to add volunteering 3 times a week and then on top of that summer school to go along with work...it just doesnt work out the way you hoped.
