Well, it looks like Exxon Mobil may be needing the services of the group of guys that I work with so we may be coming back to H-Town. I have mixed feelings about coming home but I am mostly excited. I have a question for everyone. One of my buddies is 26, single, and makes really good money. Since I have pretty much always been married I dont really know what part of town to point him too. I'm used to the suburbs and kids. We would be working in Greenspoint but he would want to be near the upscale clubs, restaurants, and other crap. Any suggestions would be great. I was thinking the Galleria area but dont know anything specific.
Without question Midtown. Specifically the area around Bagby/Gray/McGowen. That's where it's at. The apartment complexes that would fit his bill would include 2222, Camden, Amli Midtown, Post Midtown and Oakwood. There are tons of condos around there too if he wants to buy. All the "cool 20 somethings" can be found in the clubs around that area on the weekends. I lived there for 3 years and had a kicka$$ time.
I'll say this about 2222; it's a nice complex, but there are hardly any attractive women there. It seems that everytime I go out to the pool, it's filled with old people and gay people. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I find my pool at Pin Oak to be a much better place if you're single and looking. just my two bits.
An AMEN to what BigTexx said. Midtown and Downtown are hoppin' right now nightlife wise. We are getting quite a few gig offers coming in from clubs in those areas that are starting to book music. That's the part of town where I would live if I was a twentysomething.
Ok I haven't been to the pool there, FFB. The legendary pool for leering at chicks is over at the Estates, which is on Studemont just north of Memorial. They had to implement a "no-thong policy" last summer because it got a bit out of hand. AMLI's pool always had some talent and good pool volleyball games.
