http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,245718,00.html That's good, telling a sargeant that he should pull his troops out of Iraq. I'm sure he has the power to do that.
ROFL. And the emailer got canned. From the article, I first thought it was Khetani who was the one who responded like that. If that company was mine, I'd definetly make an effort to send them some mats now.
the email was so rude that I thought it was some sort of hoax initially, but snopes actually did some research on this. http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/apo.asp
Were they asking for free mats or were they wanting to know whether mats paid for would be shipped to Iraq? The article didn't make that clear. But in any rate it is a sad state of affairs for the US Military, that they can't provide soldiers with basic needs whilst they are spending a billion a week in Iraq.
That he could miss the point of the article so completely. I could find a story about Marines playing football in Iraq and he would have made a comment wondering why we were spending billions to host football games in Iraq.
Yes, I get it. The point of the article is that the carpet people were meanies. God forbid someone wonder why the troops don't have mats to begin with...
Expect a lot of these emails after the Democrats try to cut off funding to our soldiers, leaving them high and dry.
The Bush Administration left them high and dry when they sent our brave troops into a no-win situation in Iraq.
Ummm no he picked out the only thing really relevant about the article. Some random guy is rude to a soldier in an email. Annoying, but in the overall scheme of things not very important. Soldiers in Iraq have to scrounge adequate bedding. Very important as an indicator that they are not properly equipped.
did you guys hear about global warming? Must be all that bombing in Iraq that's causing it. Did you hear about the Texans drafting Mario Williams over Vince Young? It's the War in Iraq's fault. We don't know how yet, but we'll figure it out eventually.
well what is more important? Dogpiling on to some nameless nobody who did a rude, dumb (though ultimately meaningless) thing or expressing sympathy and regret that our elected leaders let our troops down in such basic ways? What do you expect in this thread? 47 mimicking replies that the guy who did it was a jerk? If it's a toss up between who is a bigger jerk - I'd say that the people who sent troops to Iraq without proper equipment are bigger jerks than some ass-clown who works in Wisconsin who sent a nasty email. (the place has now been subject to multiple death threats, etc, according to the Snopes article - did you post this thread in the hopes of provoking more outrage or something? ). Honestly - tell me what kind of debate and discussion you expected in this thread that did NOT relate to the war on Iraq, and how an article about ill-equipped troops in Iraq should not stimulate discussion related to it.
ok I give up. let's not ever discuss how people treat soldiers ever again because it's their fault for being stupid enough to wind up in Iraq. If we just ignore their needs and make crass comments at and about them, that will definetely show we want the war in Iraq to stop.
Dude, you're all over the map - people ARE discussing the needs of soldiers and YOU'RE the one who's b****ing about it. Why don't you just post the script of how an acceptable reply to this thread would go so we'll all get the picture?
well, it just shows how Bush is handling the war in Iraq. The US military can't afford a mat? Shame on GWB!
