I made a little video tour of my new house to send to my brother. I edited with some software I had. No problem. I made it into an AVI file and copied it on a cd disk to send to him.

The problem came when I tried to play it from the disk...the first couple of minutes skip around. I tried copying it again on another disc and got the same exact results. About 1/2 way into the video it quits skipping and runs ok.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

I get that problem almost constantly whenever I try to play AVI Video.

I doubt I can help, but I know what you're experienceing. What player do you use to play the CD?

For me, WinAmp always messes up and RealOne can freeze.

Media Player, the newest version (series 9), is a lot better. Still, it does skip around, and I can't figure out why.

What did you do to change the format to AVI?

    A) What's your computer's specs? My old computer 300 mh, 4mb graphics card, 63 RAM, etc couldn't handle avi's well nor mov's (quicktime)

    B) Try copying it off the disc to your HD so the speed of your CD-ROM doesn't matter and to cut out the middle man.

I'm thinking that may be the problem. It plays off of my HD before I copied it just fine. I'm guessing if I send the disc to my brother and he puts it on his HD he will have no problem. It's not like it's Gone With The Wind so I guess it really doesn't matter anyway.

    Thanks for the help.

dump it to mpeg. Less complex and totally nonproprietary. Damn I am glad that spelling thing is over.
