Anyone familiar with the auctions they have of used cars in Houston. Someone told me that if you take 5 grand you can get a nice little vehicle. What do you need in order to bid and when do they have these things? I have a kid that keeps bugging me for a car. I need to find her one in the next 2 - 3 weeks. Can Clutchfans help me find this auction?
I looked at Carmax and they have decent deals, but if I could just buy one cash.........cheap, that would be great.
Most of the auctions, you have to have a dealer license to buy. Big H Auto Auction on West Rd. has the biggest. They deal primarily in repos. Some of the insurance auctions are IAA, Bayou City Auction, and Co-Part, but most of there vehicles are rebuilders.
Been there once. My friend bought one and thought that he saved a grand but after 2 weeks he realized that he spent more than that to replace dying parts. Not worth it.
