This is my friends mother who died....this could have been avoided Authorities Charge Son With Mother's Murder Investigators: Man Fires Multiple Gunshots During Argument HOUSTON -- A man is now being held on a $30,000 bond after sheriff's deputies said he murdered his mother at her west Harris County home, Local 2 reported. The shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Grand Junction near Mason. Deputies said Darren Bonnett, 35, who works as a nighttime security guard, shot his mother, 58-year-old Estella Bonnet, after a heated argument. Investigators said the suspect's mother was trying to get him to leave her home when the shooting happened. Officials said the woman was shot in the thigh and calf of her left leg before the suspect stepped away; however, he returned and fired five or six more rounds at his mother. One of those shots struck the woman in the head. The mother was pronounced dead upon arrival. Neighbors who heard the shooting told Local 2 they couldn't believe it. "I was just riding my bicycle down the street, and I heard seven quick shots and then one more and that was it," a neighbor said, Relatives said the suspect might have a history of mental illness. Bonnett was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.
