Officials say a fire of unknown origin swept through the Oasis around 4:30 a.m. The expansive property had more than 40 decks and could seat 2,000 people. Heavy rain overnight kept the fire from spreading to surrounding areas. Fire crews from surrounding areas were still battling flames as dawn broke over the lakeside bluff topped by the burning restaurant. The Hudson Bend Fire Department is investigating whether lightning is to blame for the blaze. No injuries have been reported. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guess I'll have to stick to Pace Bend, Mt. Bonnell and the hill behind Trudy's at Lamar and 360 for my sunsets.
I saw it on News 8 this morning...very sad.... I am sure they will rebuild it, and insurance companies are probablly quaking in their boots at the check they will have to write. DD
Can't speak for the drinks, but Baby A's has some great food - and you don't have to pay for the chips and salsa. I always heard the Oasis was overrated, especially for food, but that you wanted to "have drinks there so you could watch the sunset". I don't get it. Can't you watch the sunset from other places?
Actually, a ton of places use grain alcohol in their frozen 'ritas. They just don't tell you. That's because tequila is EXPENSIVE, and you can't really taste the difference between the ice and the sweet and sour anyway.
So you guys actually went there to eat? I didn't even know they served food. I did, however, know they served beer.
