this was sent to me via email. i know there are some oldschoolers from the austin scene on this board. if you attended the university of Texas at anytime during the years 1970-1997ish, you probably went to les amis at some point. also, you may remember the classic scenes in the movie Slacker. i remember the local outcry about tearing the legendary coffeeshop/beer cafe down and the resultant replacement: starbucks. could be cool. I used to drink beer there all the time. especially freshman year when it was walking (stumbling) distance from my dormroom.
I spent many a happy afternoon there with girlfriends. Good cross section of professors, teaching assistants, and students. Foood was good and reasonable. What a location! So there is a Starbucks there now. Is Inner Sanctum still there? Must be gone also. Good times!
I lived at the Castillion dorm right across the street. Another Austin landmark bites the dust. That sucks. Mad Dog and Beans was next door. That's been gone for a while. Every time I go back to Austin, more memories disappear. Is Hole in the Wall still around? Or is it a CVS pharmacy.
