I know that the two items in the title are seemingly unrelated, but I'm looking for both. First off, does anybody know of a good Middle Eastern market in Austin? I'm looking for something in the vein of Phoenicia in Houston, although I don't expect to find anything that large. Something with groceries, hookah, etc. would be nice. Secondly, I have no idea where to go for pho. I usually go to Cafe Saigon in Houston, but I've yet to find a place like that in Austin. Do you know of any good places? Off-the-beaten-path is welcome, of course. Thanks for the help, oh mighty Clutchfans.
For Pho, go to Tan My on Peyton Gin near Ohlen Rd. and 183 (behind Target). There's a Phoenicia bakery on Burnet Rd. just north of 45th and one on South Lamar and Barton Skyway.
For Pho...where about town? Used to go to 888 on Oltorf alot when I lived on Riverside... now I hit up one on William Cannon by MoPac.... forget the name atm... Edit: And yeah one on Campus is kinda dirrty....
pho saigon in china town on north lamar is pretty good for atx pho. it may be one of those pho saigon franchises from houston, who knows...
There's also Pho Danh on Braker and Lamar on the SW corner. It's the same owner as the one in the Hong Kong market center in Houston.
Yeah, it is one of those franchises.. but its still damn good. The one in Austin chinatown hooks you up with HUGE portions... that place is the best for lunch after a night of drinking on 6th street
this is the truth. it is THE best in the city. for banh mi, lily's sandwich on lamar/braker area is the best, right next to short and sweet tapioca.
nice one smartass but he was asking for recommendations to a good restaurante, not just one they list on google
Lily's is disgusting. The baguette place in the corner of the same shopping center is a hundred times better since they make their own bread. Tam is good but they charge too much.
