Does anyone know if astros games will be viewable in any way next season in austin? If we do get comcast sports I'm afraid rockets games will be blacked out.
The games will be on CSN Houston, just like the Rockets. You'll have to get the channel to watch them. If you do get the channel, I don't see why the games would be blacked out. And this is what's really bad about the channel. We're struggling to get it in Houston. What about other parts of the state? Maybe not such a big deal for the Rockets with San Antonio having the Spurs and Dallas having the Mavs. Their reach isn't as far. But what about the Astros? For a long time, Central Texas was Astros territory. That's been shifting more towards the Rangers since they've gotten good and we've turned to crap, but there are still a ton of people who grew up as Astros fans in the region. What about them? If the Rockets/Astros/Comcast can't get the station picked up state wide, that's just going to push more people towards the Rangers since they can probably already watch them on Fox Sports.
Until Time Warner signs on with Comcast, no, we won't get the Astros games. No reason they should be blacked out in Austin. However, Rockets games will be blacked out as this is the Spurs media territory.
