I am traveling to Austin on Sept. 11th and looking to rent a hotel room for that night. Anybody know a good (trying not to break the bank) hotel in or near the downtown Austin area? I might be looking for a suite type hotel room. Anybody got hookups?

I dunno what kind of deal you can get. It is definitely pricey, but it's on 6th Street so very convenient for a night out.

    Cool, but not cheap:
    Hotel San Jose
    Hotel Saint Cecilia

    Good luck.

I love this place. I've probably stayed there 10 or 15 times. The first time I went there I checked in drunk and there was a huge photograph of Bob Dylan on the wall. I couldn't believe it. Nice pool too. I like staying in that neighborhood (either at San Jose or Austin Motel) and waking up and walking to the Jo's Coffee stand for iced coffee and Pellegrino and then walking to El Sol Y La Luna for breakfast tacos.
