If you are like me, and I know after Yao hit town there are a lot of us like this, you don't read the GARM board as much as you used to. I simply cannot take the endless (as Mr. T would so eloquently put it) jibba jabba that is coming from some of these new members. I can usually only stand to read the GARM and other non Hangout forums for a total of five minutes before I want to hurt someone. BAD.
So, in the interest of those of you who like to vent by proxy, and like me don't visit the GARM very often any more for reasons stated above and thus may have missed it, I am going to repost my rant here, for your enjoyment.
The post was a result of a relatively new guy posting that Dunleavy was gonna be the coach. That alone wouldn't have set me off. It was the smack talk afterward that made my head want to explode.

Here's the link if you wanna check it out yourself.

    My best friend's sister's boyfriend's

    No problem whatsoever.

Then when some one says "really? Any proof?" Act like a self righteous terd. See examples below:

Finally, when the backlash comes (and it will) act like you never meant to be such a terd, you are simply misunderstood.

Guys like this make me not want to read this forum any more for more than five minutes at a time.

Needless to say when JVG is officially named coach of the Houston Rockets, this cat should be banned immediately with extreme prejudice.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, we were all newbies once. Try not to post stuff (at least in GARM Forum) that is as worthless as Moochie dribbling at half court for 15 straight seconds. You wanna be funny? Post goofy crap? Check out the Hangout. We have lots of fun in there.
    OK? Thanks.

    moomoo,

Wouldn't a simple 'I agree with Mulder' have been sufficient?;)

I actually kind of like reading the dumb threads almost as much as the good ones. I like reading all the smart ass replies that show up before the thread is locked. :D

My biggest pet peeve is those damn realgm.com trades. What is the point of posting them? I don't see the point in any trade thread unless the trade is actually rumored.

On a related note, I've been a hardcore Rocket fan since the late 70's. I read clutchcity.net for 2 or 3 years before I even bothered to enter the bbs. I figured it would be like the old aol boards, you know..."Rockets suck! No they don't, you suck! F***OFF" etc. I had no idea the people in here would be so insightful. Then I read the bbs for a good month before I even posted. To this day, I've only started 2 or 3 threads and they've all been in the Hangout where there's more room for error. I read a lot more than I post.

Newbies should read for a while before they start threads.

I really don't understand the point of coming to this site if you DON'T read the "GARM"... Maybe I'm just a big jerk, but isn't the point of visiting Clutchcity.net to read about and discuss the Rockets?

I only come over to the Hangout when I'm especially desperate and bored, which is why I've been apearing a lot more recently. Sure there are some interesting discussions and topics brought up in the Hangout, but couldn't you get those on some Yahoo discussion board or something like that?

It also blows me away that a lot of people don't bother looking at the front page anymore.

But then I guess that's why I only average .85 posts per day.

    ;)

    Well DarkHoss...
In times past, GARM was the place to be...but in the last 3 months....:(

reminds me more and more of the old ESPN rockets boards I used to read before 98.
I would rather read johnheath,T_J,MacB, glynch, and treeman argue all day in D&D than read most of the stuff posted in GARM.

I look in GARM for threads started by posters that I know...and look for ones labeled Chron to read the news stories..but other than that...

    fuggitaboutit..

    /rant

It takes great acts of restraint onmy part to keep from flaming all the stupid people over there that mindlessly parrot "facts" that have been disproven, unfounded rumors, and flat-out lies that are created to support their point of view.(even tho Im sure codell would love it if I did)

and dont even get me started on Yetti..

one of these days I am going to steal DoD's great reply to Yetti in Feedback..

    Oh Shut Up.

and post it after every sanctimonious post that self-styled censor posts.

as one of my favorite posters would say...

    Arrrggghhh!

    /end rant

Yeah, I've pretty much been a Hangout Boy since the invasion of morons into the GARM.

Maybe it's time we attempted to take the GARM back. I remember a really old Gallagher stand up in which he talks about stupid drivers. He said that everybody should have a gun that shoots tose little suction cup darts that have a sign that says "STUPID!" on it. You can shoot it at the people that do something stupid in traffic. When somebody gets 4 or 5 of them, the cops pull em over for being stupid.
Newbie starts 5 or 6 annoying threads in the GARM for no particular reaon than to see his handle on the internet and we slap him with a "STUPID!" flag. 5 or 6 in a certain period and you are gone.

I agree. I am sick of visiting the rockets forums... I visit the hangout and Astros/Texans/Comets forum more often now. The garm is just full of junk now.

The Astros forum is still good.

I agree. I wish something could be done about it because it used to be an excellent forum.

No threads by junior members, that would clear up some of the nonsense. I don't think having to wait until 50 (is that member status) posts to start a thread is that big of a deal. I think I may have been guilty of starting a couple dumba$$ thread as a JM.

Maybe it will work itself out now that we have a coach. If not, maybe we'll have to wait until school starts up again...

Yeah, but then you'd have the newbies posting crap as often as possible early on to get the ability to start crap threads. Sounds like a lose-lose situation. I'm not sure what the answer is, honestly.

    What there's junior member school?!Why wasn't I never accepted?!
I think most dumb threads nowadays come from all the hype around Yao.I'm not aming at any specific ethnical category(i.e. Asian),but this is the sort of thing you have to expect from the expansion of a forum.
Statistically u are bound to have more good and bad posts from newbies. The problem is that bad posts stand out more.

    attack the feedback section, fellas.

perhaps a forum for senior members only (but you'd still have to deal with me)? maybe if we send a barrage of tips to the tip jar... maybe clutch and the other admins will help out. i just sent my first tip on friday. i hope it went through. first time using paypal.

OK guys calm down! Listen, I hate good-for-nothing threads as much as the next guy but if you don't like what you see then don't reply, better yet don't even read them. I've been visiting this board for sometime now and rarely do I post but I HAVE A CHOICE as to what I read and reply to. This is a communication board where ALL Rocket fans can post and discuss the Rockets freely and to limit that to only "the ones with something meaningful to say" is not only subjective but also very limiting. Pretty soon you will have only 10 or so posters in here and I don't think that's what this board is about. I would just say ignore the posters who you consider inferior and for god's shake don't reply to them like many of you do (it only keeps the thread alive). Just limit you’re reading to Clutch’s threads and get over yourselves a little bit.

The problem is good threads are now out numbered 8 to 1. Used to be the opposite. If it had always been that bad, I wouldn't be complaining. I guess my ignore list is going to have to swell. A LOT.
