    I know it's standard diplomatic rhetoric, but if anyone actually tries to change the direction of their government as the US calls on them to do, usually the government arrests them (or worse) and the US does nothing. And this is true for administrations from both parties.

    But yeah, Pompeo might as well calls on Clutchfans members to stop all that small-balling that the Rockets do.

    Oh the Chinese people don't hate Pompeo at all over the Hong Kong thing! Oh no. They don't have theories about the CIA in Hong Kong at all. As the former director of the CIA, Pompeo has tons of credibility with the Chinese people. They won't do the exact opposite of whatever he says.

    This just feeds into the PRC rhetoric that the US is always looking to meddle into the affairs of other countries.

    This is mostly just bluster and I doubt anything comes from this. If US decides though to actually give direct aid to groups like HK protesters that is when we could see a bloodbath. The one thing the PRC is very uneasy about and as said they will crackdown on is if there is foreign interference in what they see as their territory. It won't matter if it will hurt their economy and especially if they get criticized globally. None of that to them is as important as the idea that part of China could split off..
