Mary - Kate and Ashley Olsen to Attend NYU

NEW YORK (AP) -- Twin teen actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen can stop checking their mailbox for college acceptances. New York University has invited them to join the class of 2008, People magazine reports in its Dec. 29 issue.

``Like every other senior, they had been sweating out their acceptance and they are absolutely thrilled,'' their representative, Michael Pagnotta, is quoted as saying. ``They have always taken academics very seriously. This is a major achievement for them.''

The magazine says the twins will be enrolled next fall at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, a college within NYU that allows students to tailor their own curriculums.

Their new movie, ``New York Minute,'' will be released next year.

Mary-Kate and Ashley, now 17, alternated the role of Michelle Tanner on the ABC sitcom ``Full House,'' which ran from 1987-1995.

I wonder if any school rejected them.

Well, I would not only want to know that but I would like to know what their GPAs were and what they made on their SAT/ACT.

It would be hilarious if they made like a 500 on their SAT and/or had a 2.0 GPA and schools like MIT or Vassar sent them acceptance letters!

They haven't had the opportunity yet. We're still in December and decisions won't be made until April or so.

I just sent in my application the other day. And no, it wasn't because of them.

Schools like NYU and John's Hopkins are really over-rated. You also wouldn't want to pay the $40,000 for and under grad schoo. If you are in Texas your best bet is to go to UT at Austin. That is the absolute best place for under grad. It costs half as much for us residents and it has 4 colleges in the top 10 in the U.S. I will be going there next year for Pre-Pharm and hopefully I'll make the College of Pharmacy the following year. I just turned 18 and will be a jr. at UT next year. Anybody else going there? Holla back!

You don't need to study for NYU.

Smart man. Why pay all the extra money for a degree from a fancy private school, when you have an elite public school in your home state. FYI, the company I work for hires electrical engineers from the following schools: Texas, Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, Michigan, and MIT. All new hires come in with the same starting salary.

it appears that they are attracted to the Gallatin School of Individual Study. This program is popular with working actors in New York as it allows them to design their own curriculum. I know a few people who studied in the Gallatin program and it served their needs accordingly(they would go on auditions during the days, go to school at night, and if they landed a job, it would be worked into their schedule).

now some people go to NYU because they are rich and they know they can live in Greenwich Village on Daddys dime and tell everyone "I go to NYU"

If anyone out there is considering going to college in New York, then consider The City University of New York. this is NYC's public University system, including Hunter College, John Jay University, Brooklyn College, Queens College, and other inexpensive public schools in the boroughs of NYC.

graduates include Colin Powell and yours truly, and I did it with financial aid and government grants.
