You've probably heard of the guy, Nostradamus, well, he foretold the destruction of New York and the start of World War III at about this time. Even scarier, he said it would be by a Middle Eastern man in a Blue turban (Osama Bin Laden?). Here's the link: http://boisdarc.tamu-commerce.edu/www/w/willmc/nostra.htm ______________________ According to Nostradamus, the first two anti-Christs were extremely evil, and history has shown this to be so; however, Nostradamus speaks of a third anti-Christ who is more hideous than all the others combined. Some say Sadaam Hussein, the dictator from Iraq, could be this evil tyrant. Others say that he has not yet appeared. What does Nostradamus say about this third anti-Christ? First, Nostradamus tells us he will come from the Middle East. Out of the country of Greater Arabia Shall be born a strong master of Mohammed... He will enter Europe wearing a blue turban. He will be the terror of mankind. Never more horror. Here, Nostradamus says that a man from Greater Arabia will lead his forces on an invasion through Europe. This invasion will start a third world war that will be far worse than all the other wars put together (Guentte). When will all this take place? In one quatrain Nostradamus gives us an exact date in which the war will be well under way. In the year 1999 and seven months From the sky will come the great King of Terror. He will bring back to life the King of the Mongols; Before and after war reigns. Nostradamus predicts the war will begin shortly before the year 1999 (Roberts 191). He also tells us how long the war will last. The war will last seven and twenty years. (Guentte) Nostradamus says that the war will be so terrible that the world will come face to face with final annihilation. Here, he implies that the war might involve some kind of horrible weapon, possibly nuclear. Nostradamus tells what the first target will be. The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city. In this phrase, Nostradamus refers to a great city in the new world of America near forty-five degrees latitude. Experts agree this could only be New York. By fire he will destroy their city, A cold and cruel heart, Blood will pour, Mercy to none. (Guentte) Although Nostradamus 's predictions for our future sound frightening he does give us some hope by telling us how this third world war will end. He says it will end as a result of an unexpected alliance. When those of the Northern Pole are united, In the East will be great fear and dread... One day the two great leaders will be friends; Their great powers will be seen to grow. The New Land will be at the height of its power: To the man of blood the number is reported. The new land was a common term used by Nostradamus to refer to what we now call America. The countries of the northern pole could be Russia and the United States. We have recently seen the breakdown of Communism in Russia and an increasing friendship between Russia and the U.S. (Reader's Digest 515). ___________________ My First Post. I Hope It Gets You Thinking.
Nostradamus is overrated. If you have ever seen a biography on him or done a report, you would know. He made thousand and thousands of prediction and got some out of luck.............
By the way, Nostradamus has made accurate prophecies of the French Revolution, the American Civil War, both world wars, and the Holocaust.
I'm a believer. Anybody who can carry a reputation as large as his, while living, and dead, was in some part the real deal. He even had skeptics try and prove him wrong... only to be faced with the reality that he was right. The story about the white meat versus dark meat for dinner was something else. And naming Hitler just amazing. I'm not 100% sold, but the guy has proven that he had something.
Nostradamus made thousands of predictions and a lot of them were very vague. Personally, I don't see what is so mystefying about someone who was right maybe 5% of the time. It's like Drew P said he's overrated. Actually, the title of this thread is true...except it was that scum Bin Laden who foretold this not Nostro and he did it 3 weeks ago.
Well, he seems to be a few years offf. I don't know what to think about this. I'm watching the freaking Palestinian CITIZENS celebrating this right now. Men, women, and children.......evil people.
As evil as any leader of his time. He just happened to be on the losing side, and seeing as history is written by the winners, he got a bad rep. Had he been on the "good guys" side, you would think of him as the second coming. Yeah, I'm a history major, btw.
That's the problem with Nostradamus' quatrains. I remember reading them when I was in jr. high and even then I kind of doubted them. There are over 900 of these predictions and if I recall they were somehow blocked off by centuries. They were all so cryptic, too. If something happened that even remotely resembled something he stated, his quote was so ambiguous it could be fit around what happened. The stuff you couldn't associate with modern-day happenings left you wondering "what the hell was he babbling about?" However, there are some predictions in which he specifically mentions peoples' names that really freaked me out.
Ask and you shall receive. All of this is from a copy of The People's Almanac: He predicts that there will be an Arab-Chinese Invasion (no date given just like almost every one of his predictions) A German will drive off the Arabs and the Chinese This German leader will wage a terrible war in 1999 War continues until between November 23 and December 21, 1999, the fabled battle of Armageddon takes place . He then predicts peace until the 7th millenium--then the destruction of the earth will occurr. Maybe 5% was a little harsh; however, he did a great job in not using dates. Check out this quote from a Nostradamus FAQ website: "Question. I think that Nostradamus is balderdash. Most of his verses are so vague that it's no surprize that a few of them "hit" at random. There are over 1000 verses (Centuries + Sixains) plus the letters. By chance alone there are likely to be similarities with real events. Answer. Undoubtedly this sort of random similarity accounts for many of the "hits" that have been found by various interpreters. Verses that are extremely vague and ambiguous can be interpreted in many different ways. Unfortunately, most of Nostradamus' verses are of the vague and ambiguous persuasion. Thus, it is possible to find at least one verse that can be interpreted as almost any given event, provided that the interpretation is done after the event has already happened. Several verses appear to be so exact and accurate that it is difficult to believe that this is due to chance alone. See, for example, "Franco & Riviera" at jamesf's web site." Nostradamus was like all psychics: very good at fooling people that he could "see" into the future.
Thanks DOD. I agree that this is all BS and Nos has been severely misquoted, but for some reason this really got me freaked out. You're correct about the ambiguity and cryptic though (kinda like an oeilpere or Doc Rocket post.... ) Anyways, I'm tired. I've got Solid State Electronics at 9AM tomorrow morning and I can't f*cking sleep. This NOS stuff is total BS, I assure my fellow Rocket fans.
Not sure about this. Napoleon did a lot of great things for Europe, like bringing in the civil code for instance. Actually writing out the laws and making everyone accountable. Not too shabby for the time. Especially when you consider that he broke down a lot of the old houses of power in Europe. He also was the one of the world's greatest soldiers, along with Alexander, Hannibal, and Douglas McArthur.
