http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?p...ticleid=33672&mapcode=consumer|mobile-devices AT&T today announced new data plans for smartphone and tablet customers that will launch this Sunday, January 22. The plans give customers more data and value. The new smartphone plans include: AT&T Data Plus 300MB: $20 for 300MB AT&T Data Pro 3GB: $30 for 3GB AT&T Data Pro 5GB: $50 for 5GB, with mobile hotspot / tethering Old plan was: $15 for 200MB $25 for 2GB $45 for 4GB, with mobile hotspot / tethering
Such a scam, I can't wait for Time Warner to be able to work on mobile phones too, where you have your web with you at all times. I use an Iphone but my wife has a Galaxy S, and she can tether her IPad, while I can not.....ridiculous. DD
Oh, I don't know if it will happen, but I sure hope it does. At one point Motorolla was developing a huge WiFi area called the Canopy program, not sure if they are still doing it, but that would be great if you are always in a Wifi radius.... DD
Stuff like this is why I was against the merger with T-Mobile. Without T-Mobile, data rates on AT&T and Verizon would be even higher.
Time Warner doesn't have enough spectrum to gain traction with any type of decent coverage area, plus with the spectrum they sold to Verizon, they are more than likely to just re sell their service like they did with Clearwire previously
Pretty sure you do. Also, isn't the current pricing for 2gb of data on AT&T $25? Maybe the extra gig is worth 5 more dollars. On Verizon it's currently at 2gb of data for $30
I still have my ATT unlimited data from when I bought the first iPhone. Holding on for dear life now.
Same here with Verizon. To keep the unlimited plan I guess I'll be a Verizon customer for life. I've been with all carriers except ATT&T, and Verizon is by far my favorite, so I'm chill with it.
you made me want to look up my usage for sprint also.. 4,570,625 kb.. damn that is a lot of data.. I don't know why people pay so much for data, its stupid, unlimited all the way
I thought you could tether it if you weren't on the unlimited data plan. That's what I've been led to believe, and graciously declined. Granted, looks like the new plans isolate tethering further, but... I'd considered doing it a while back, thinking "I mostly use a lot of data only when I'm on wifi anyway" but like everyone else, the options and opportunities for using more while not on wifi increase every day, so I've held off until now, and am, like others, clinging to my grandfathered unlimited plan tighter and tighter. Of course, I suspect they will just say "Sorry, can't do that anymore" any time.... but I hope I am wrong. Let's just say I don't think I'll sign another 2 year contract without unlimited data.
This was their plan all along. Instead of initially cutting unlimited to 2g at $30..they made it $25...so people switched to save $5. Now they are getting the $5 back
