It looks to be a good one. You guys are smokin hot and we are on fire, somethings got to give. We're probably going to throw Jason Marquis(8-5 3.86 ERA), Damion Moss(7-4 3.03 ERA) and Kevin Millwood(10-6 3.37 ERA) at you guys, any clue who you guys are sending to the hill?.

probably going to be Miller, Saarloos, Mlicki going for the Stros. I'm glad the Stros won't have to face Maddux or Glavine.

I agree with you there, Refman - Saturday's game between Moss and Saarloos is going to be great: two of the game's best young pitchers going at it.

Of course, tonight was all bad luck for the Braves...Maddux leaves after 5 with an injury, their best setup man in Remlinger leaves in the 8th with an injury of his own - not to mention a 5 run blowup from their bullpen tonight!

Please don't let it all crumble now!

On the bright side, the Astros are only one back of the Cards now.

Oh crap...didn't know there were choppers on the board.

from the AP recap of last night's game, regarding the strike zone of HP ump Angel Hernandez:

"Some people just don't take pride in their job,'' a bitter Larry Wayne Jones said. "None of us feel like we got beat, but we've got an 'L' in the loss column. It's hard enough to beat the world champs, without some help from others.''

Hernandez threw manager Bobby Cox and pitching coach Leo Mazzone out of the game, which ended the Braves' seven-game winning streak.

"It's not the umpire's fault,'' Cox said. "They're being told to call balls up around somebody's head and underneath their shoetops, and nothing on the white-black.''

I've never seen a team with so much talent be such a bunch of whining p*ssies. They've been like this for a decade or so, is it something in the water over there?

Did you watch the game Buck? If you didn't, then why are you talking about something you have no clue about? If you did, then can you argue that the home plate umpire was, at best, inconsistant with his strike zone? Cox got tossed in the second inning and never stepped foot on the field.

What makes their non-stop whining for the last 10 years even worse is that they've gotten away with so much more than any other team.

Maybe I'm just reading this wrong, but shouldn't you guys be saying winning instead of whining ? ;)

If a team feels like they are getting screwed, then whining is part of the game. Every team complains about that.

You don't have to be on the field to get tossed.

Why so sensitive, ATLTown? The ump was inconsistent, but he pretty much called the same plate for both teams. Yeah, I saw the game, it was freakin' hilarious. Almost as funny as watching Maddux barking at the umpire when a pitch 6 inches off the plate gets called a ball.

That statement makes absolutely no sense. If he called the same plate for both teams, that would mean he was being consitent.

Look, I know most on here are 'Stros fans. I'm from Atlanta and currently live in Atlanta and have been a Braves fan for as long as I've followed baseball. I posted a very repectfull thread about the matchups this weekend. I could've began talking **** about how you guys are our b****'s and have been for a decade but I didn't. I don't live in the past, this season is all that matters to me. So how is my civility rewarded? I get to see you call my team a "bunch of whining p*ssies". Then when I respond by asking you if you'd seen the game and if you thought the umpiring was consitent I get called sensitive. What a joke.

His zone was inconsistent throughout the whole game as far as what constituted a strike/ball, it didn't matter who was on the mound. I didn't see him give calls to Az that Atl didn't get; he did do a poor job overall, but I didn't see him favor either team. That seemed to be the crux of Chipper's post-game comments: he felt the ump was squeezing the Braves & let Az get a much more generous zone. I suppose I should have said he was being consistently inconsistent, if that makes any sense.

I honestly didn't intend to offend ya in any way & I regret that I did. It's just baseball afterall, nothing important enough to get too angry over. I'm definitely looking forward to the series this weekend, I'll be there Fri/Sun, probably sitting next to some Braves fan & his pre-pubescent daughter who'll giggle & yell every time Chipper's name is announced. Basically, I hate (inasmuch as I can hate a baseball team, which ain't very much) the Braves. Of course I'm kinda jealous for their extended success & 1 WS ring; and I'm also trying to cope with past 'Stros failures against said Braves. I realize this. I hate them anyway. I hate the chop. I hate smug-*ss Skip Caray. I hate Ted Fonda. I hate Javy Lopez 'cause he kills the Astros. I hate Leo Mazzone because he won't take his medication. I hate Chipper 'cause, well, he's Chipper. I hate the bandwagon fans who've never set foot in the state of Georgia. I hate Walt-freakin-Weiss for making that catch (what was he, 40 years old?). And, yes, I hate those 2 whining p***ies Maddux & Glavine.;)

    Should be a great series.

It's all good Buck. If it makes you feel any better I hate the chop, Skip, Ted and bandwagon fans as much as you do. You don't have to worry about Lopez(DL) or the two p*ssies showing up in this series though so it should be, at the very least, tolerable for you to watch. Now our best set-up man is down, Castilla is still hurt and Smoltz looked like crapolla in his last outing..... maybe you guys can make your big push at our expense. Like I said in another thread, I like the 'Stros. I would prefer Houston win the division over StL and Cin so if beating the snot out of us helps, then by all means go for it.

Thank freaking God its not Glavine and Maddux going on the hill for this series. Its like the Stro's hitters go into fear mode when they see those two out there. I think the Astros have done a better job against Maddux lately, but Glavine absolutely OWNS the Stro's.

Damn if we can pick up two of three here that would be great.

Jason Marquis is ill & Moss will start tonight. Hopefully his going on short rest will benefit the 'Stros. I've no idea how this affects the starters for the other 2 games.

I don't either, normally I'd say that Maddux would go on limited rest, but he left his last game hurt. Maybe we send Moss, Millwood and then Marquis if hes feeling better.

Honestly, I would be thrilled if we get through this weekend only losing 1 game on the Cardinals. I'm hoping we go 1-2 and the Cards go 2-1 vs. the Mets.

As much as I like Saarloos and Mlicki, they have faced some crappy teams the last few weeks. Facing the Braves is a whole different story.
