Ok, I have lost 15 pounds in 21 days. I have also noticed I have more energy, and my concentration levels are higher as well. I measured myself last night and in the last 2 weeks, I have lost 1/2" off my neck, 1" off my waste, and GET THIS, 3" off my belly. I am currently at 190, and on my way to 165-175, depending on how I look when I get there. So far, I feel great, and no problems whatsoever....in fact the other night I had Serranos Fajitas, just without the tortilla....YUMMY !! How is everyone else doing? DD
congrats I lost 90 lbs over a 9 month period last year doing Atkins + exercise program.. from 280 to 190 makes a world of difference in how you see yourself and how the world sees you..
Hey Dada, are you keeping track of cholesterol, LDL, HDL, etc. levels while you're at it? I've always wondered what Atkins does to those levels both long-term and short-term. Anyway... good luck!
I lost 50 pounds on it a few years ago. I've gained about 10 back so now I'm back on it. I don't use the scale because I've heard it can be misleading. I go by how my clothes fit and how I feel. I only weigh myself about once a month. DD, I've asked this before but I forgot. What are those sticks called that you piss on to see when you're burning fat? How do they work?
they are called kemotosis sticks... (spelling?) they measure when your body is in kemotosis, when your body is burning your fat because it isnt gettin carbs from food to burn that is my understanding of it anyways
Haven't been on the atkins but weight is still flying off. I started off on atkins and lost 10 lbs right off the bat but the risk of the unhealthy diet kind of deterred me off of it a bit. I still eat very low carbs but I don't think i experience ketosis anymore. Instead i keep a low carb diet but i eat at least 4-5 times a day in combination to this ultra low carb diet. Carbs only on days i work out or play some sort of sports. Carbs only during the day and none at night when it can settle in. I only work out maybe 2-3 times a week including basketball and I run/walk 1.5-2 miles each workout session. I've lost 20lbs in 2 months so that's a good rate of weight loss. I get to eat the carbs I want on occassion w/o missing it too much. I think this is the ideal system for me as my metabolism has increased due to the constant burning of energy from the multiple meals I eat. I recommend those who cannot stick to atkins to try this. It has worked very well for me.
D.O.D, My cholesteral was fine when I started, will take a physical when I get to my desired weight. Gonna be tough as I am going to the UK for a friends wedding and about 5 days of partying to boot. DD
Hey guys! I've been on Atkins for 10 days and have lost around 10 pounds. Every excited as I'm pretty much near my ideal weight. I'm thinking that if I drop another 5-7 pounds I should be good to go. I've noticed my body is starting to look a lot better, I have higher energy levels, I need less sleep than usual, I am alert during the day, and my concentration levels are amazing at the moment. It's truly been going great. I also have been working out loads, playing a lot of footie. Good so far...
I seem to have hit a 3rd week stall that some Atkins bbs members will tell you is common. My spirits are high, though, as I've lost about 9 pounds total. I started putting my daily food intake into www.fitday.com. It's very cool - it will tell you your calories, protein/fat/carbs breakdown, saturated/poly/mono fats breakdown, etc. You can also track exercise and activity levels on it. For the last two days, I'm right at the recommended ratio of 65%/30%/5% fat/protein/carbs. I'm gonna keep the faith - I'll report back next week, hopefully under 180 pounds.
Gutter, I stalled for 5 days at 193, then I woke up at 191 on the 6th day, and then 190 the day after that. Keep taking inches measurements as they are a good indicator of how well it is going. Even though I stalled, I was still losing inches. Now, I am no longer stalled and back on the weight loss train..CHOOOO CHOOO !!! DD
I'm on day 15 and I weighed yesterday at 199 down from 209. I can tell I've lost weight in my face and stomach, and I feel better. I didn't exercise at all the first week and the second week my exercise was moderate. This week I'm increasing my exercise even more. Cutting out all the sugar, booze and diet cokes have made a big difference in the way I feel every day.
I can cut out the sugar, sodas, candy etc., but cutting out booze?? AIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! KILL ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually I started losing weight because I stopped eating altogether. It was getting in the way of my drinking!
I just went to fitday and reghistered and put int he Vanilla Coke I am drinking. Holy Shiite Muslim!!! 254 calories!!!! 64 g of carbs!!! Crap!! You guys are right. I am gonna have to give up Cokes. Oh Dr. Pepper.... Oh I will miss you....
I hate diet drinks, but have forced myself to drink them as it has cut 600-700 calories a day out of my diet (heavy soda drinker). Now I drink tea, black coffee, water, and diet sodas. The diet soda I have found that does not leave that nutrasweet taste in your mouth is Diet Cherry Coke. The cherry flavor masks the nutrasweet flavor very well. Just a suggestion for people who like Cherry Coke.
Does anyone know if polyols are digestible? These are found in things such as chocolate for diabetics. If not, how can I get stuff that tastes sweet?!?!?!?! That's what I mainly miss.
Best diet drinks: Pepsi One, Diet Dr Pepper, Diet Mt Dew. The problem is finding Pepsi One at any restaurant. Diet DP is at Chick-Filet so that's a plus. They key to drinking diet drinks, ESPECIALLY the bad tasting Diet Coke, is to eat something salty.
