Big deal, I got mine last month...It's not as good as the ATI Radeon 9600, though... I can't wait for the Radeon 9800 to come out, though...I hear those things are going to kick ass! And the 10000 series? :::drool::: Editors note: No, I DON'T know what the hell I'm talking about, but it sure sounds cool!
A-Train, lol. I used to get the latest and greatest stuff, until I figured out what a scam it was. Now I usually just buy the second fastest/best thing or lower. Bang for the buck is better. I'll have a Radeon 9700 next year or so. Or maybe the NV30... who knows. Nice card, though.
I've been using a Voodoo3 3000 AGP card for about 4 years now and I never really had much of a reason to upgrade until now because I installed Windows XP and none of my 3D graphics games work because 3dfx went out of business and there are no XP drivers for my card. I still don't plan on getting one too very expensive.
Buy a Geforce 4 Ti4200 You can get them for like $130 or so, and they are fabulous. I'll try it on Linux definitely -- I don't know if there are any Linux drivers yet or not. I certainly hope so, but if not, they'll be out soon I'm sure.
The Radeon 9700 is one of the first cards that will be able to fully lay Doom 3. It's also compliant with the latest Direct X that isn't released yet. All this means nothing to you if you're not a gaming freak...
