From the San Jose Mercury News: Posted at 11:45 p.m. PDT Thursday, September 7, 2000 Pickle juice becomes Eagles' drink of choice They believe gulp of dill beats the heat BY SAM FARMER Mercury News IT WAS the hottest NFL game on record, a 109-degree day in Dallas that had the Cowboys wilting on their sideline and holding umbrellas to shield the sun. The Philadelphia Eagles were doing better with the heat, though, and not just because they occupied the shady side of the field. The Eagles, you see, turned to a homespun remedy to ward off the effects of the sweltering weather. Many of the players sipped shot glasses full of strained pickle juice, which they believe keeps body cramps at bay. The slimy stuff -- introduced to the Eagles this summer by an intern on the training staff -- seems to do the trick. At training camp, far fewer Philadelphia players had to receive fluids intravenously -- although the weather was much more mild than during the summer of 1999. Even after the 41-14 victory, not everyone on the Eagles is sold on the pickle principle. ``No pickle juice for me,'' quarterback Donovan McNabb said. ``Some guys drink it. They're going to keep watching it. I'm going to keep watching them.'' The word has spread to other teams, and the reaction is predictable. ``I can't tell you I know anything about the science of it,'' said Bears Coach Dick Jauron, whose team plays at Tampa Bay on Sunday. ``The only thing I know is we're not going to drink pickle juice.'' ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com

ABC had a thing on during the BYU - FSU game about the Cougars using Pickle juice. The reporter said the trainer found a dairy where his grandma wrote that she would give his grandpa pickle juice after he came in from the fields. I would never do it though, cause personally I don't like pickles. ------------------ Who would've thought Don Nelson would pass up Olumide Oyedeji not once, not twice, but thrice?
