I'm going to the Dallas game tonight. I opted for cheaper seats because I figured this would not be a sellout and I could move to better seats. My question is: Is there any particular ettiquette (sp?) to moving to better seats? Will ushers allow one move over another, or can I just take whatever is available until the actual ticket holder shows up? Any advice would be appreciated. ------------------ Hey, I've got a new signature! 302
Ushers won't bother you anywhere in the upper prom. The easiest thing to do is pick out the vacant seats you want and them move into them during halftime, or maybe between quarters. Ushers are less likely to hassle you then. OTOH, its also better to move down early. There are lots of people moving down every game. More than once I've seen someone else move down into seats I was watching. Its really easy to move into good upper prom seats or lower prom seats behind the backboards.
Third through fifth row, center court up from the floor are my personal choice! I've only managed to make it to the floor once. I got to sit on the back row behind the scorers table. The closest I've gotted was the back row behind the scorers table. You wouldn't believe how much different and competitive the game looks from that close up. I can only imagine what front row courtside must be like. ------------------ Five to one baby, one and five...no one here gets, out alive.
jamcracker is spot on - i have used the "half time" move many times. I sat courtside once - truly an awesome experience. The ref gave me the ball to play with during a time out as well. pimp - have you snuck into the VIP section??? That is quite an accomplishment. You will have to give me some pointers - I've never had the courage to try it. ------------------ Maybe all the rulers are wrong. Halftime is good, but that means watching half the game from your actual (nosebleed) seats! I like to head down after the 1st quarter. The downside is those late-arrivers who actually show up and reclaim their expensive seats after you've taken them: but then you can always move somewhere else nearby. Another upside to moving down after the 1st quarter: I tend to watch for better seats at least as much, if not more, than I watch the game when I'm up in the rafters. Move down and you can just focus on the game. I second davo, Pimp. You must have a good set of cojones to take the floor level! They've got too many ushers / security for me to risk that. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve immortality by not dying. - Woody Allen
In the two NBA games I have been to, one was Nets v Toronto at Continental Arena, bought reasonable tickets and then due to the Nets stadium being half empty we sat in the front row for most of the game. Nice view to see the Carter dunks. ------------------ In 1993-94 Mugsy Bogues averaged more boards for the season than Mo is this season!!

Someone needs to make Mo' aware of that fact! ------------------ Five to one baby, one and five...no one here gets, out alive.
General etiquette is don't move before the 2nd quarter. Don't look at the ushers, just walk by them. They are checking tickets; they may be looking at some, but that is only to assist someone. I agree with jamcracker and Davo. Move during half time. Don't wait for the 3rd quarter or you will be competing with other movers.
Well I went and damn did I enjoy it! That is the first Rocket game I've been to since '95. I've forgotten just how good the sightlines are at the Compaq Center. We we're in section 237 and just moved over to 235 after the first quarter; row "L" I think. Thanks for the advice guys. ------------------ Hey, I've got a new signature! 302
and a great game it was. The upper prom sightlines at the Summit ARE really good. I never bother moving down from my upper prom seats anymore.
go get a snack and just find a empty row, i dont move much. (the hospital gives us courtside seats) but if we ever buy tickets on our own then thats w hat we do.
