Well i ordered U-verse last week..the u400 package...its still cheaper then comcast...but i just need to know before they come if U-verse is any good? Ive alot of good things in the past but recently it seems that no one likes it? so anyones that has this service please let me know! thnx Mehdi
I have it and had no problems. I think some people had trouble watching a Rockets game the other night. More channels for less money is always good in my book.
So you havent had any trouble with rocket games...hows the quality? i have HD with comcast right now, is it about the same if you do have HD?
I have and it's been good. I'm just pissed cause I haven't been able to watch the last two rockets game that were on FSN. I've called and talk to their customer service and they say it's blacked out due to certain restrictions. I wasn't told of this before when they came to my house. Sucks not being able to watch the game!!!
My biggest complaint is that it currently only supports 1 HD stream at a time. Meaning, if you are recording 1 HD channel, you can't be watching another one. The Bucks game was also blacked out for some reason, while none of the other providers had it blacked out. That was the first rockets game that I had any issues with, hopefully the last. Some other smaller annoyances are things like the menu isn't as snappy as I would like and I occasionally have to restart my DVR (it is running on a Microsoft OS afterall) if it starts running slow or locking up. The good things are that it does allow you to record up to 4 SD stream, the channel line is good as well as the price. They've been adding new features and channels, though it seems the Houston market is one the last to actually get them. If your can, try to get the cat5 install rather than coaxial. I'm had some issues with the coaxial and supposedly it works faster and more stable on a cat5 install. Check out uverseusers.com for more info
you weren't able to watch the Charlotte or the Memphis games? I had issues with the Bucks, but I was able to watch the other two.
I didn't get the game tonight either. I also didn't have cable for about a month because there was an issue with the line on the pole outside. I kid you not I had at least 25 different service guys come out over the month of September because these jackasses couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Charlotte game was on UPN so I got that. I had issues when the games are on FSN. The Bucks game and tonights game against the Grizz. It's weird that they say its blacked out, but some other uverse people are getting it. The need this fixed right away or I'm moving to Dish!!!
I've got it at the office for the internet side (Richardson, TX) and I've got no problems. It seems very fast. I'm most likely going to get it at home for TV and broadband as soon as (or if) it becomes available.
I have been able to watch all of the Rockets games on it. You have to be careful, I did a search last night for "NBA Basketball" and for some reason the game didn't come up. I manually went to the FSN SW channel off my channel guide, and they were playing the freaking Mavericks game. Then I looked on my guide a couple channels down to some weird FSNSW alternate channel, or something, and the Rockets game was on that. I don't know why it didn't show up on the search. Also, a few things they don't necessarily tell you on the phone. They brag about being able to record 4 shows at one time. However, if you have more than one TV set up with the service, that may not necessarily be true at all times. It sort of works like you have 4 slots available for the whole house. I have 3 TVs set up with it. At one point last night, I was taping three shows and watching another. When my son tried to turn on the living room TV, it told him he couldn't watch because too many other boxes were engaged. That's bullcrap. They didn't tell me about this limitation on the phone. Also, the salesman on the phone bragged about how there fiber-optic network allows for much faster data transfer, and how the cable boxes respond immediately to button presses from the remote. Well, that is far from true. The damn things can be quite unresponsive at times. Both of those complaints still didn't make it worse than Comcast, though. However, if my house was capable of getting DSL, I would probably switch back to Dish Network and get a DSL internet connection.
Good to read these positive comments about U-Verse. I had planned on getting it when my house is built from day one.
In my opinion, the HD quality is better than Comcast. I've had no trouble watching any Rockets games so far this year including the Bucks game. I do agree that Comcast's on demand is better and the one HD stream does suck. I have no trouble with loading times or internet speed.
The weird thing is, during game time yesterday the game was blacked out. But they played the replay on the channel it was blocked out on. WTF?!?
Sorry, but any company that jacks with the Rockets will not get my business. Why would a cable company randomly decide to black out a game when the team and the NBA don't tell them to??
So you're saying the picture quality is as good as cable, cheaper, and the only complaint is some slow response time on the remote and that if you have say 3 rooms, you can't watch tv on the 4th? Help me out brother...
THis was an issue at the beginning of the season, with the first game only, but not since. I haven't had trouble with any FSN programs or Rockets' games, and I have been able to watch the games on both HD and standard definition. I love my uVerse HD.
