Before you know it, you will have 2 companies to choose from. Oligopoly is what America has to look forward too. So exciting!!

Bundled wireless cable and broadband internet is probably impossible without serious throttling or data caps and penalties, but this would be as close as you'd get.

For technologies most of the world doesn't have and really didn't exist 30 years ago, it's probably not that terrifying or oppressive.

So I have DTV for television and ATT for cell phone and internet. This would be good for me, right? I assume it couldn't hurt.

Less competition is great for the consumer.

The spectrum controlled by ATT with its internet and telephone infrastructure paired with DTV's satellite infrastructure can create economies of scale and scope. In other words, it can eliminate redundant expenditures, therefore causing the same revenues to generate more profit.

There is very little redundant expenditures. This is a complimentary merger that does nothing but reduces competition. The big winner is DirecTV. They are cashing out at the top of their game.

Hopefully this gets rid of the people in the upper reaches of Hughes who have been behind the extortion and racketeering against innocent people over the last 20 years.

I guess not, since there's 'less competition'. At least that's what I've learned from this thread so far.

    Hughes

Hughes belongs to Dish Network. Dish Network is a terrible company. And yes, Hughes is also a god awful company in itself. Dish Networks should be the one partnering up with ATT.

Huh? Hughes was the parent company of directv before Murdoch bought them out.

He's referring to the old crooked Hughes execs who still sit on the board.
