I think after swapping 22 and 23 with Orlando, Houston is probably gonna pick Terrence Morris. I heard he had a good workout, and with all his tie with Francis along with his Horry-like play, and of course him being a senior (which is always important to Rudy), I think he would be a logical pick at 23. I think the reason why Houston agreed to swap 22 and 23 with the Magic is because they knew the Magic (who have 3 superstar Sf's) wouldn't pick Morris. Morris will definitly be available at 23, and the only other team I see taking him in the first round is San Antonio (to replace Sean Elliot). ------------------ President of the Pete Chilcutt Fan Club.
Ahhh geeez now well have topics on what we should draft at the 23 spot. Not much well happen from 22 to 23 ------------------ "It well be a Thrilla when i beat the gorilla in Manilla"!
Super, I think that's good logic about the Rockets looking for a sf, at the 23rd pick. ------------------
Please don't give me Terence Morris. Take someone that has a great work ethic and is still improving their game, like Gealrd Wallace, Ken Johnson or Ousmane Cisse. I just don't think Morris will be a successful starter in the NBA. ------------------ President of the (the Rockets first pick in the draft) fan club.
Morris still has a good chance to become a stud. He just needs to quit playing like someone that is afraid of contact and possible injury. Hopefully, a million dollar contract will change his play. ------------------
We have a chance at Wallace in my view. I really think he could slip that far. ------------------ I eat nutria now..courtesy of mc mark!!!
I think Stevie will be able to motivate his old college bud into returning into his old form. If Steve feels Morris is worth the selection, I would select him at #23. ------------------
I'm almost positive now that Morris will be our man at #23. Today's NBATalk mentions that Terrence Morris is conspicuously absent from Chicago predraft workouts. I thought this might be something he'd do because he knows where he wants to play, as well as who wants him. Strange not to want to boost your stock but not in this case. And no, I don't think he'd hurt his stock. I think he wants to fall off other teams' radar. ------------------
You rule, oilepere! That is outstanding news that, not only did he have a good enough workout that the Rockets want him, but that he likes Houston so much that he is willing to possibly be drafted lower just so he can play here with Steve. Morris would be a goood pick at 23. He could be a steal if he realizes this seemingly untapped potential he has. Who else would we rather have at 23 realistically that could be as talented? Hard to say. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
I could see the Rockets keeping 2 of their picks, but which pick will be given away? The 18th or 23rd? Obviously the Rockets would hope to nab Morris at 23 to save money on the cap, but is there a team between the 18th and 23rd that need Morris and would thus force the Rocks to pick him at 18? Also, I could see us trading down to the second round and picking up a Brian Scalabrine type with the intent of waiving him after the preseason. ------------------
I was thinking the same thing. I don't want some team to step in. We might have to take him at 18. ------------------
alot of people seem to think morris is the man at 23...i wonder if the guy is worth a first round pick..all the mock drafts, i've seen dont even have the guy drafted in the first round.. should the rox be trading down into the 2nd round for him? eg. collier last year, and getting some future considerations... but, with that said...it kinda sounds like "classic rudy t."...drafting a not so highly touted played "too early"...but drafting him because of chemistry and how his skills fit with the team... ------------------
Morris would be a great pick at #23. This kid has arguably more potential than our starting Point Guard. If he could uncover half of it, he could be a good NBA starter at the 2, 3, or 4. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Cleveland could get Morris with the 20th pick, and possibly Boston with the 21 pick,if they don't get Gasol,Chandler,J.Johnson or Rodney White. ------------------
Yeah, Saleem, that's very possible. All these mock drafts place Morris as a late first or early second rounder, even late second rounder, but I don't buy that. If these high school kids come so highly regarded with their potential, teams will also recognize that Morris has the potential to be a good NBA player, especially with the zone rules coming up. When I watched Maryland last year, I often would lose sight of Morris; he seemed to float around a lot in the college zones. He is a gifted player, long and lean. He doesn't have to lead on this team. Damn, we just might have to take him at 18. If Oeilpere confirms he's our targeted 3....we can't let him fall into the clutches of the Cavs or the Nuggets (if Orlando yields the 22 to the Nuggets). 18 might be too high for him but so what? I like the kid. I have a co-worker, big Maryland fan, real high on Morris, says he just lacks some confidence from time to time. For that, Francis can give him a push. ------------------
Very good point that was brought up about 18 vs 23 for Terence Morris. I feel pretty confident that this is the guy the Rockets want however, there are a few issues to look at. 1. Lets say the Rockets have a deal lined up with a team like the Lakers to draft Gerald Wallace for them. Basically, the Lakers could say that we will sign and trade you Robert Horry for Walt Williams after free agency starts (saving the Rockets their cap room to fit Horry and Webber) but Gerald Wallace must be the guy otherwise no sign and trade. In this situation, the Rockets basically have to take Wallace at 18th to be on the safe side b/c Bob Whitsitt drools over such athletic projects and could very possibly jump on Wallace at 19. 2. Lets suppose that Wallace is taken at 18th to satisfy this obligation, then the Rockets are at the mercy of the teams picking between 19 and 22. There is a good chance Morris would still be around at 23 but there is no guarantee. My guess is that this is atleast a worthwhile risk b/c the end product could be as follows: The Rockets would have their big man at 13 (Loren Woods?) along with Horry and Morris PLUS their wad of cap room. Thus, the Rockets could come away with Woods, Morris, Horry and Webber this offseason and still retain Moochie if they play their cards right. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I think Boston will almost definitly take Omar Cook at #21 despite their fans insisting Walker is a PG (chuckle). Cleveland will probably be the team to worry about, but I see them taking a SF at #8 and then taking a a good scoring SG (arenus or forte) at #23 ------------------ President of the Pete Chilcutt Fan Club.
MManal, Good point about Wallace. He worked out for the Lakers recently and apparently is the player they are targeting. It's known they want to move up in the first round. It's also very likely that Portland would take Wallace with the injury to Bonzi and an aging Steve Smith and Pippen. ------------------
